Ann Wright presented Melissa Hornstein’s revisions to EGN-5 in response to committee comments after first reading.

Steve Ettinger discussed the combining of MUS-50A and 50B to create the new course, MUS-46.

  1. NRN-99, Nurse Residency, 8 units

This is a Cooperative Education (CO-OP Work Experience) course designed to help transition nursing students into the work force through clinical residency. It has been established as a variable unit, positive attendance course. Janeen Whitmore, Mary Cousineau, and Debra Kaczmar were present to discuss the new course which may be a model for other nursing programs.

MOTION: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve NRN-99 as a new course.

PC Review: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve NRN 44.1 as a prerequisite

MOTION: MSP (vote: unanimous) to approve revisions to previous course (NVN-131) including revisions to course number and creating a cross listed course reflecting transfer eligibility.

PC Review: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve PSY-2 as a prerequisite

Jason Hough, Jeff McGrath and Susanne Burns were present to support this new degree. LaVerne presented concerns about course numbering and articulation/transfer status. Current THA courses have not been designed as transferable courses. The courses within an AA-T degree must be transferable. Upon recommendation of our Articulation Officer, the THA courses were re-numbered to reflect their new transfer status (99 and below) and received a second reading as new courses.

MOTION: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve the following as new courses: THA-20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 29 and 40 (to replace course numbers presented at the 3/20/14 meeting as THA-100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 170, 176, 184, 180, and 190).

  3. Catalog Day will be held April 24th. Some of the recent course inactivations will impact programs. It is important for all faculty to review the AA and certificate programs within their discipline for accuracy.
  4. The next ASCCC Curriculum Institute will be held July 10-12 at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose. Funding is available through the Academic Senate for faculty members to attend.
