Statement 1 (Eerste Prijswinnaar)
Mr President, Yours Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen,
I am very angry because they are everywhere: starving in the fields in order to harvest the cultivation we’ll eat, having no roof in their torturer’ s house, with bare feet in the factories making the shoes we’ll wear, suffocating in the mines looking for the smallest precious stone for which we’ll throw a tantrum.
They are everywhere, 10, 100 or may be 10 000 kilometers from us. Whatever the distance which separates us from them: they are well and truly on the same earth than us. They are 115 millions everywhere except in the right place they should be.
Hence, I am very angry because these children should be at school but nowhere else.
According to the article 29 from the Convention of the Children’s right, the education is a right which has to be guaranteed by the States. The education has to contribute to the blooming of the child’s personality and to the development of his or her mental and physical aptitude.
It is also very important to inculcate in children the respect of the Human’s right, the respect of the fundamental liberties and the respect of the established principles of the United Nations Charter.
Indeed, the thing is to give to each child the chance to live in the best conditions his or her childhood.
Nevertheless, the task is huge! We must fight ourselves. From today, we need all our energy to remedy the present situation. We are able to send some satellites all around our earth but we are not able to send our children to school. How is it possible?
I am deeply convinced that nothing is more important than the education, some measures must be taken:
On the one hand, the schooling for everybody is inevitable. School has never been as important as nowadays! Don’t neglect it! For millions of children, school is the only way to change their destiny. Let’s give them the means to succeed in life!
On the other hand, let’s change the parents’ mentalities who think that school is useless. The children are some human beings and as any individual they need a moral support.
Let’s give them the psychological means to succeed!
So, don’t be as anyone: awareness is not enough, we must act now.
Finally, above all, don’t forget that if you are here today, it is not a miracle. It is simply thanks to the education you had. Let’s give them, please, the same chance you had.
Be angry and claim to be able to change the world!

Statement 2
Is Communism Bad?
Ladies and gentlemen, we now are facing the era of capitalism as a global trend. We’ve been through a hard time during the last century, because of many conflicts and numerous numbers of huge wars. As a result of 19th century, most of the countries selected Capitalism as their social fundamental system. However, now many also are suffering from many problems occurred by the system; for example, world financial crisis and global intra-national problems. Therefore, I’m trying to argue how exactly the Communism is bad and on the other hand good to build more sustainable society. I’m not arguing ‘Black or White Argument’, but arguing the better way for our future.
Basically, Communism itself is not an evil ideology. However, the problem is that no society can successfully establish it as they planned first. As we all know well, every trial to build better society on the basis of Communism has failed throughout human history. But one thing which Communism has and Capitalism doesn’t have is the promise of equality. It means adequate amount of social welfare, public welfare and public facilities for all. In a Capitalism society, it is hard to amplify public welfare because of its own system. However, obviously, nowadays we have many more social problems which need to be solved by government and by the collaboration of many.
Therefore, we need to have a powerful government. To have a powerful government doesn’t necessary mean ‘bigger government’, but ‘more effective government’. The ideal form of government of modern society should be the image of ‘good helper’ and ‘close assistant’. This will be the best form of government, which followed good example of both Communism and Capitalism. By having this kind of government, we will build a society which ensures equality and freedom.

Statement 3
Ladies and gentleman,
I as a representative of marriage department chief require you to remember and complement Universal declaration of human rights article 16. According to the article 16, men and women of full age without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution. Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses. The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State. However, in some part, there is a violation against the family especially spouse. FLDS community separated from
Mormonism allows its believers to have wife more than one. It is for peace and harmony of household, however derives serious problems. In 2007, spiritual leader of FLDS forced 14 years old girl to marry old man and he also married 12 to 15 years old girls. He insisted he knew the right spouse for marriage life and took individual’s right to choose his or her partner. In this situation, girls are not guaranteed their right equally. As article mentioned religion cannot be limitation for found a family. For prevent these kinds of situations, advanced solution or restriction would be suggested by nation. United nation is a large vague suggestion for human rights, the government, should actively and practically help people to carry on life as a human. Also, article 16 should contain right to happy within the family. It means, person get a family for happiness and satisfaction.

Appeal to children safety and security
Mr. President, Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
After many years of fight, children voices have been finally listened in 1989 when the child right international convention has been proclaimed. We hoped this text, adopted by the majority of countries, stop all discrimination and violation to the children rights but we are, unfortunately, obliged to notice that whishes weren’t realized. Indeed, today, in the beginning of 21 century, we can see that International Convention isn’t respected in general by countries and children rights have not progressed since the adoption of this text, 21 years ago.
Everybody must remember the main principle written in the article 3 of the Convention which is the superior interest of the child. This principle means that countries must adopt laws concerning children which go to the well being of the child. Every country must respect the superior interest of the child in order to conform to the Convention and also to promote, to improve children rights but it seems to be difficult.
To reach this goal, the UNICEF agency works with states in order to build an effective policy about children which focuses on the respect of children rights and the improving of these rights. Despite of the stated willingness of the UN agency, much work remains to be done. It is necessary that laws and government institutions reflect the real needs of children.
It is necessary to notice that the needs are not similar between countries. Emergency assistance is sought in some countries while a long-term assistance is needed in others.
Moreover, this aid does not affect the same areas of society. We note that poor countries ask to support education, health and nutrition in contrast to the support claimed in rich countries, which affects the minors’ justice system.
It is important to define priorities to respond well to the problem of children. These priorities are to encourage non-governmental organizations which are on the ground and know well the situations, to encourage States to implement the International Convention on the Rights of the Child and to put the children issue into the focus of child Policies.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The 21st century is the time to act and provide answers to problems affecting the world of childhood. Now the power is in our hands. Now it is time to write a better future for our children.
Thank You.

Attitude of International Community against North Korea
Mr. President, Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Past and nowadays, even though there have been constant efforts to get rid of international threats, it seems that North Korea just does ignore them. It has sustained nuclear weapons, even tries to develop it and neglects requirements to return to six-party talks on its nuclear weapons ambitions. Besides, recently many innocent navy men died in South Korea due to a torpedo attack of North Korea. To cope with above, the United States enforce North Korea to give up nuclear weapons or any talks never be held. Also South Korea refers Cheonan Attack of North Korea to Security Council in the United Nations. Such strong conflicts between them including other countries’ have been continued for decades.
Under that situation, any problem cannot be solved. If the problem is North Korea, then we should know about the core of the problem. It is said that North Korea is in urgency to continue survival of its regime, so it maintains nuclear power. More strongly international society suppresses North Korea, more stubbornly North Korea reacts. If the community really wants North Korea to be a member of it, not wild attitudes but different ones are desperately needed.
First of all, we should use China as a cornerstone to solve the problem. China is, however, passive to interrupt into the conflict as same communism and an amicable partner toward North Korea. But China is crucial. Then how can China be changed? Cultural diplomacy is definitely necessary. The one that looks too weak to solve this tough problem can bring noticeable effects. The United States and Japan once were uneasy with each other owing to political interests. Visiting the United States to improve that situation, Japanese Prime Minister, Goizmi sang Elvis Presley’s song at the reception. The song was not good, but the United States changed its eye toward Japan admiring that he knew and sang Elvis Presley. Also China was impressed that Russian President Putin said a proverb which is very famous and Chinese like and consequently Russia achieved its visiting goal. If we want China to move, we ought to approach Chinese with cultural and traditional aspects at first.
On top of that, the community should attend human rights in North Korea. It seems that nobody cares about civilian lives in North Korea and that most countries, especially the United States and South Korea think only of retaining the present states hoping North Korea not to provoke any problems. There is actually an interview of an official from Ministry of Unification, South Korea that South Korea does not include North Korean protection or rights in its policy toward North Korea. However, there have existed many gulags that numerous people are abused, tortured and killed in North Korea. Sometimes there are people who escape successfully, but if one fails, brutal treatments and death only remain. To make North Korea a member of the community, we need to look at detail respects. Without fundamental solutions internally, everything is only temporary and there are always possibilities to be back.
Lastly, we should give North Korea ways to catch fish. North Korea is behind 21st century and needs to follow the current tendency to survive. Thus, the community has to help and support necessary aids for North Korea to keep pace with international society. It also makes South Korea and North Korea closer to be able to unify.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
If even a worm will turn, how much more would North Korea. It is not right that we regard North Korea as a devil incarnate to be destroyed. Who is going to house millions of North Korean refugees and who is going to take responsibilities of after-affairs if the regime of North Korea is collapsed? North Korea is absolutely one existence in the world and it has also systems to be being maintained. Now, It is the time to reconsider our attitudes and change them toward North Korea. Not strong but basic approach has to be carried out.
Thank you.

Statement 6
Mr. President,
Nowadays, more developed countries such as China and India go through their new found industrial growth which release many green house gases such as carbon dioxide that causes global warming. According to some research, the average temperature of the earth has augmented more than one degree Fahrenheit since 1900 and the speed of warming is still increasing. Nearly all experts who study the climate record of the earth agree that the discharge of green house gases ismainly from smokestacks, vehicles and factories.
Moreover, they believe that in the 21stcentury, we might see temperatures rise of about 3 to 8 degrees, climate patterns might shift, ice sheets contract and sea level rise several feet, there will be no winter in some countries. The major source of carbon dioxide is the power plants. Power plants burn fossil fuels to produce electricity which emit a lot of carbon dioxide. From the annual greenhouse gases emission research, around twenty percent carbon dioxide are produced from power plants. And there are also carbon dioxide emitted in the atmosphere comes from burning of gasoline in the engines of the vehicles in many developed countries. Other than carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide is also one of the major causes of global warming. The main sources of nitrous oxide include nylon and nitric acid production, cars with catalytic convertersand the burning of organic matter. Besides, deforestation also is the cause of global warming. It is caused by cutting and burning of forests for the purpose of residence and industrialization.
What we do from today will make a big difference. Depending on our choice, scientists predict that the Earth could eventually warm by as little as 2.5 degrees or as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Being a part of the world, we should do something to save the earth and provide a better environment for our next generation.
I suggest we can use energy more efficiently and using more renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, and bio-energy, we would significantly reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide (CO2,) methane, and nitrous oxide. And increasing the share of electricity generated from renewable resources would be one of the most effective ways to reduce global warming emissions.
Other than that, we can also reduce the emission of gases by creating better cars and trucks. They would be just as powerful and safe as the ones currently on the road, but they would get 40 miles per gallon (mpg) or more. As we have better transmission engines, more aerodynamic designs, and stronger yet lighter material for the vehicle's body, this not only would save individual drivers thousands of dollars in fuel costs over the life of the vehicle, but also would reduce the CO2 emissions into our atmosphere. Apart from the above solutions, to reduce the gases we emit to the atmosphere, we can also increase forestlands as plants and trees can absorb carbon dioxide.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It’s time for us to consider our future. How to make the world better? The effort pay by everyone is very important. Even a little step can change many people’s life. If we gather all our power, I’m sure we can make a better future. Thank you!
Leung Sin Yu (Olivia) - Hong Kong
Statement 7
Energy crisis
Have you ever imagined that what our world will be looked if all the energy resources have been used up in one day? This is not a hypothetic question but it is a fact which we will face in the future. Most of the energy we used in the past or even nowadays relies on fossil fuels, which are oil, natural gas and coal. However, these resources are limited that they will not last forever. In addition to our increasing demand on energy, energy crisis can be occurred very soon. Therefore, the only solution is the development of renewable energy. Therefore, the only solution is the development of renewable energy. There are many kinds of renewable energies such as wind and hydroelectric power.
But how come some countries do not know the seriousness of it. Especially some developing and undeveloped countries, they all usually use the fossil fuel and don’t use the renewable energy. On the other hand, the developed countries are not much better than others, they also use the fossil fuel and seldom to use the renewable energy. And it makes the situation become worse.
