-The next Banana Run is August 6, 2017

-The next time Post 136 puts up flags at the Dole VA Center is September 11, 2017, Patriot’s Day. Please meet at the Dole VA Center at 7 AM.

-Old Settler’s Weekend is August 19-20, 2017.

-Operation Surprise was rescyeduled for September 9, 2017

-Provided some information on what to do if a military spouse passes and placed this information at the front of the Post.

-Bike emblems and helmet stickers, windshield stickers and flags are available at each meeting.

Legion Commander: (Steve Coberley):

-Old Settlers Day is August 19-20, 2017. The Legion will have horseshoe tournament and the booth downtown. Breakfast will be served on Sunday, August 20, 2017 during Old Settlers Weekend.

-Everyone is invited to breakfast everySunday . Served at 9:30 AM. This raises money for the concrete fund.

-Meet at the cemetary on May 26, 2017 at 5:30 PM to put out crosses and flags

-Meet at the post on May 29, 2017 at 10 AM to ride to the cemetary for the memorial service; The following members volunteered: John Wise, David Stewart, Ron Vangus, Doug Lehman, Andy Webb, Larry Lee and Walt Morris.

-The large flags will be folded on May 31, 2017 at 6 PM.

-Made $450 at the Nut Fry. Next year it will be the weekend after Easter.

-State convention is May 20-21, 2017 in Topeka

-Brats will be cooked and served on August 19, 2017 during the Old Settler’s Weekend during the horseshoe tournament.

-Mexican Buffet in the near future. Date still to be determined.

Patriot Guard & Road Captain (Terry Houck)

-The recent Patriot Guard Mission on 3/ 31/ 2017 was for the Wichita Police Department Service Dog (Rooster). A framed appreciation certificate memorial was presented to Darkhorse for the Patriot Guard presence for this mission. This will be hung at the post.

Unfinished Business:

-Jerry Berry announced that he has sent his ALR T-shirt order request to State for their approval and has not heard from them yet. He is still working on a new design.

-It was decided to participate in the Nation of Patriots. A committee including Diana Nelson, Denny, Gio Giovanni, Deb and Doc Herndon, Tammy Mintler, Tracy Kinnick, Doug Lehman, Rob and Joanna Brown and Walt and Deb Morris volunteered to assist with the meal and program. The date is July 21, 2017. The riders from this post will meet at the Oklahoma State Line and escort the flag directly to the Post.

-Jerry Armstrong mentioned that Steve Nicholas with the Maruaders requested that the Riders assist with the opening ceremony for their car show at the Kansas Star Casino again this year. The date is June 17, 2017. The uniform for the honor guard is black pants, black tie, white shirt, black shoes and garrison hat. The following members volunteered to participate in the honor guard: Rob Brown, Susan Lee, Rich Hula, Rick Babinger, Walt Morris, John Wise, Ron Vangus, Jerry Kirk and Doug Lehman. Practice dates and time will be emailed.

New Business/Reminders:

-Post 136 will be one of the stops for Post 408 Christman in July Poker Run, July 15, 2017.

-Flag Returement Ceremony on Flag Day June 14, 2017 at the Post at 5 PM.

-The Chamber of Commerce of Mulvane is sponsoring a baseball team, called “The Patriots” that will participate in the NBC tournament in Wichita. The Patriots play their first game at the Mulvane Sports Complex and they have requested a Ride-in with flags prior to the game. -50/50–Collected $102.00 with $51going to the Operation Surprise at McConnell Air Force Base. Tammy Mintler won $51.00. Congratulations Tammy!

Announcements:

-Deb Herndon asked about information for the memorial bricks. The information can be found by contacting Duane Kalous.

-Sue Lee shared the positive experience of going with Sheryl Carpenter and Deb Crawford to the VA Coffee and spending time visiting with the patients at the VA hospital and encouraged all members to go if possible.

-if your email or phone number has changed please inform someone in your AUX, SAL, Legion, or Riders. All entities are updating their membership lists.
