Warehousing Education and Research Council Receives Endorsement
Supplier shows support for local WERCouncils
OAK BROOK, IL – August 8xx, 2012 – Big Ass Fans, a manufacturer of industrial and commercial cooling fans, has entered into an agreement with the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) to be the first sponsor of the WERCouncil Program. This endorsement of the 24 councils is the first of its kind and will allow the Oak Brook, IL headquarters to expand and enhance the communication efforts that promote local participation in WERC.
Councils are designed to attract and recruit warehouse and logistics industry practitioners for the purpose of fostering a local community of education; this latest endorsement will most certainly help that effort. While WERC offers a comprehensive library of resources, there are specific benefits of local events – proximity, a hands-on approach to practitioners’ application of solutions, and a network of peers who can relate to the challenges of their locale. For this reason WERC has set up the Circle of Acclaim award, which Big Ass Fan will also sponsor, for those WERCouncils that achieve the association’s standard for recruitment, hosting events, and promoting the warehousing profession.
WERC is the host of the largest conference dedicated exclusively to the research and education of warehouse solutions, but recognizes that not everyone can make the annual event. WERC’s CEO, Michael Mikitka points out that for those unable to attend, being involved locally offers great value.
“We work all year to make sure our annual conference is the most comprehensive warehouse solutions event for the industry, but the dynamic of being “local” can’t be fabricated or duplicated. Each of the individual councils and their respective events are run totally by volunteers who are passionate about their industry and their career. We want to increase the recognition for the council program, and we are fortunate to now have the support of Big Ass Fans to help us further that effort,”, said Mikitka.
WERCouncil events usually involve a facility tour that allows members to see warehouse solutions implemented, but have also included lunch and learn venues, golf outings, and topical round table discussions. It’s the variety and practical nature of these events that members are drawn to, and given their proximity, are continuously successful.
