Youth Goat Show

1. / Thursday of the Expo: 10:00 am - Goats in place; weigh-in to follow
1:00 pm - Goat show to begin immediately followed by the Sheep Show.
All goats will be released following the Goat Show, except market
goats being sold, which will be released following the Youth
Livestock Sale.
2. / See health regulations that apply to your animals in the “Animal Health Requirements” section of this book.
3. / Show order will be determined by the Superintendent.
4. / If there are more than 3 goats in a breed, the breed will show separate. If there are less than 3 goats in a breed, they will show in the unregistered class.
5. / Goats must have proper holding equipment and be kept tied if necessary.
6. / Up to 4 goats per exhibitor, per class may be shown.
7. / Superintendent will determine weight classes after the entries have been weighed-in to ensure class size is near equal.

A / Entry Fee is $5.00 per head for breeding goats.
B / Entry Fee is $ 10.00 per head for market goats.
C / It is the participant’s responsibility to completely fill out the entry form.
Goat Program Rules:
a. All Goats must be weighed in at Expo for final weight to show and sell at the fair.
b. Cash awards of $10, $9, $8, $7, $6, $5, $4, $3, $2, $1,will be given to members who own the top-
gaining animals. Awards will be presented at the Callaway County Youth Expo.
Goats Weigh-in:
a. Official Weight to be sent in to Extension Center on Weigh-in papers due in May. Weigh-in date is first
Saturday of May and papers are due the following Friday.
b. Limit of 4 head per member to be weighed-in. There will be a weigh-in fee per head.
Ownership Date:
Ownership of livestock animals must be accomplished by the date shown. One of the objectives in owning an animal is to learn new skills in animal breeding, feeding, management and health. To accomplish this, the member should secure the animal as early in the year as possible. This is required for exhibition by the 4-H/FFA member. Ownership dates for Goats are May 1.
1. / Ribbons will be awarded to all participants using the Danish System (blue, red, white)
2. / Breed Grand Champions and Reserve Champions will receive a rosette.
3. / Supreme Champions and Reserve Supreme Champions will receive a rosette and an award.
4. / Showmanship winners will receive a T-shirt.
(Junior: 8-11) ( Intermediate: 12-15) (Senior: 16 years and older)

Superintendent’s and Judge’s decisions are final.
