2010 Scholarship Program

This Year’s Essay Topic:

Write to one of your best friends, listing the reasons and advantages of becoming a member of Sunrise Family Credit Union. Be sure to discuss the services and also include the “look” of the credit union in the future as you see it.

*Do not use an email formatting; but, do use proper modern English.

Applicants must submit all of the following materials to Sunrise Family Credit Union no later than 5:00pm Friday, March 26, 2010 for consideration:

  1. A completed application signed by the student and a parent/guardian if the student is under age 18.
  2. A 500 – 700 worddouble spaced essay on the above stated topic.
  3. Essay will be judged on:
  4. Content 60%
  5. Organization 20%
  6. Mechanics(I.E. grammar and spelling) 20%
  7. Copy of college/university or trade school acceptance (I.E. letter of acceptance or letter from admissions department).

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. The student must be a graduating senior, who is a member of SFCU in good standing regardless of which county they attend school.
  2. The student must have proof of acceptance at an accredited college/university or trade school.

Three scholarships will be awarded to the students’ essays which are selected by a committee appointed by the credit union. The award levels are 1st place $1,500 2nd place $1,000 and 3rd place $500. The scholarship will be distributed directly to the student’s college/university or trade school in increments of one payment. Scholarship fundsmay be used at student’s discretions.

The scholarship recipients will be notified and announced no later than April 30, 2010. Not all applicants will be selected as recipients.

SFCU employees, official family and relatives are not eligible for the scholarship.
