Sun, Earth & Moon Project

The Sun, Moon and Earth are constant companions. We bask in the Sun’s heat and light. It provides Earth’s energy, and life could not exist without it. We rely on the Moon to light dark nights. Together, the Sun, Earth, and Moon are responsible for ocean tides, eclipses, and the phases of the Moon. They have many similarities, but they couldn’t be more different when it comes to size and structure.

For this project, you will create a model of the Sun, Earth & Moon system. You must create a model of all three and put them together as if they were actually rotating and revolving through space. You must use appropriate scale and placement for your model. The physical appearance of your model must be similar to what you have found during your research.

You must also perform the research required to complete the physical characteristics chart and the Venn diagram on the Sun, Earth & Moon. All models, charts and diagrams must be completed and turned in by January 25th, 2016. You will be required to present your model and research to the class at this time.

This information will also be available on Mrs. Deming’s and Mrs. Willis’s websites through the Tarkington Intermediate web page. If you lose your copy, you may go there to print another one. There will also be some websites listed there that you may use to help you with your research.

Thank you in advance for all of your hard work! We look forward to watching your presentations the week of January 25th!
