Introduction

TheFifth Hands-on Finance Training Program is organized by the Global Financial Services Institute at William Paterson University and several well known universities in China. It will take place in Wayne, New Jersey from July 16thto August 5th, 2009(Intermediate Class). We have successfully hosted the training program in August 2007, February 2008, August 2008 and February 2009. Communities from both Chinese and our universities benefited significantly from this experiential learning program. The main purpose of the 2009 Summer Hands-on Finance Training Program is to let Chinese college students learn about modern financial systems, financial planning practices, and finance teachings in the U.S.The program pays special attention to improve students' ability to do their own financial planning analysis and management.

Innovative Characteristics of Summer 2009Program

The Summer 2009 Hands-on Finance Training Program has the following unique advantages:

1.Global Financial Services Institute has equipment, data, and software needed in modern finance. The facility is excellent for students to learn finance and improve their own ability in financial analysis and investment.

2.Global Financial Services Instituteis located in Wayne, New Jersey, only 20 miles away fromNew York City. It is convenient to visit international financial center and gain experienceof financial practice.

3.Global Financial Services Institutehas extensive relationship with the world-class finance authority, experts, professors, and other Wall Street practitioners. We will invite them to come and teach courses and give speeches.

4.Global Financial Services Institutehas developed numerous financial training projects such as "Student Managed Portfolio". Chinese students can work with the US student fund managers and improve mutual understanding.

5.William Paterson University has been approved by the CFP Board to provide a board registered CFP program.

ActivitiesofSummer 2009 Hands-on Finance Training Program

I. Time

Three weeks, July 16thto August 5th, 2009 (Intermediate Class)

II. Guiding Principles

We aim to provide an in depth training on new concepts and knowledge of personal financial planning, and use hands-on approach to improve students’ ability to understand and dofinancial planning.

III.Training Content

  1. Basic knowledge of financial markets, organizations, and products;
  2. Introduction to Personal Financial Planning and global-based planning;
  3. Fund analysis using Morningstar advisor work station; and
  4. Risk Management & Insurance, Retirement Planning and Estate Planning.

IV.Time Arrangement in the U.S.

During first two weeks, from Monday to Friday, we will concentrate on training in Global Financial Services Institute’s Financial Learning Center (Listen to speeches, lectures, the hands-on practice, exchange with American students, visit the financial markets, and organizations, etc.). At the weekend, we will arrange visits to New York City, New Jersey, Washington and other places. For the third week we will take students to Great Canyon, Las Vegas and LA to enjoy the west coast cities of USA.

V. Qualifications of Trainee

Participants for the 2009Hands-on Finance Training Programshould have

  1. Undergraduate education at accredited China universities (Including the undergraduate students); and
  2. Basic finance and economics knowledge.

VI. Training School and Certificate

The Summer 2009Hands-on Finance Training Programwill be offered at the Global Financial Services Institute at William Paterson University. Participants will receive a certificate from the Institute at the end of the program. Outstanding students will receive a "Young Financial Planning Professional "and other certificate such as Bloomberg Certificate.

30- 50 people.
