Phase:KS2Primary
School Type: All
Welcome to Kevins World
Year 6 is a year of many changes for pupils and their parents. There is a lot of advice and assistance about the transition to ‘big school’.Much of the information is focussed on the academic side of the change; practical support on how to prepare your child for the different learning setting of secondary school and responsibilities they will have. However, very little is discussed about the longer term personal, emotional and social changes that students will begin to experience and how this can impact on home and family members.
Under the umbrella of Exploding the Myth, Instructions Not Included provides information for parents and carers on typical behaviours to expect as their child becomes a teenager.
Click hereto view Instructions Not Included, for top tips, links to advice and information on typical behaviours including:
  • Sleep deprivation
  • ‘Back chatting’
  • Isolation
  • Anger
  • Peer pressure
This information can be used to share and support parents and carers with the approaching transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
