  1. Read chapters 1-10 of your Pleasure Reader Book – “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. On white A-4 size sheet, create a web chart for the characters from the story.Draw a picture of your favourite character and write a paragraph of 50- 80 words about the person.

Unit 1 : ENGLISH TOPIC

There are many symbols of peace like- a white dove, an Olive branch, V- hand gesture etc. Doves usually white in colour, are used in a variety of settings as symbols of love, peace or as messengers. The Dove is generally thought to be a symbol of peace. They often appear inpolitical cartoons, on banners and signs at events promoting peace (such as the Olympic Games, at various anti-war/anti-violence protests, etc.)

A.]Collect and write in your own handwriting some interesting facts/ information about the white dove/ pigeon as a symbol of freedom & peace.

B.]Paste a picture of white dove/ pigeon. Write an autobiography of a dove/pigeon which is a symbol of love and peace. (Both Dove & Pigeon belong to the same family of birds and are stout-bodied birds with short necks, and short slender bills)

(NOTE - Use Pronoun ‘I’ for the Dove while writing the autobiography).

Bar Graph-List out birth years of your family members at least 7 (if required the birth years of relatives may also be taken). Draw bar graph on A-4 size sheet.

Plan your Junk Food- Take empty packet of any two edible items. List out the ingredients with their weights and calories.

1.Find out total calorie consumption.

2.Convert the weight of each ingredient in fraction and decimal.

3.Why should we avoid junk food.?(1point). Name any two healthy food.

4.Symmetrical Shapes- Collect samples of symmetrical figures found in nature, in your house etc and paste on A-4 sheet.

5.Triangle Crossword puzzle- Make a crossword puzzle on types of Triangles and properties.

Project Work: Group Wise

Application of Mathematics in Sports

Create a scaled model of the following sports game using mathematical concepts.

Group 1- Basketball

Group 2- Football

Group 3- Cricket

Group 4- Badminton

Group 5- Tennis

Group 6- Hockey

  • The scaled model of the respective field should be made using the specific dimensions (size should be A-3)
  • About the game in brief, how mathematical concept is used in the design of the field, rules and regulations, scoring board display etc should be prepared on separate A-4 sheets.
  • The group should be able to give presentation on their respective sports game with all the above prepared things.
