SUMMATIVE REPORT FOR CIE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS

This report aims to get a summary of the analysis for Checkpoint, IGCSE and AS Level examinations for the 2016-2017 academic year.

PRIMARY CHEKPOINT EXAMINATIONS

Out of 50 candidates 47 passed which resulted to 94% pass rate. The highest performer was Ruth Sibande who had an average of 84% and the lowest performer was Grace Chingota who had an average of 0%. The pass rate dropped by 2% from last year’s 96%.

Interms of quality of results,this year’s results are better than last year’s .However Mathematics is the only subject which performed below expectations. Below are tables and figures showing the different areas of results.

SECONDARY CHEKPOINT EXAMINATIONS

All candidates passed which resulted to 100% passrate. The highest performer was Chuks Chekwas who had an average of 92% and the lowest performer was LonneyLimula who had an average of 21%. The passrate was maintained from last year’s by 100%.

IGCSE EXAMINATIONS

20 out of 23 candidates passed which resulted to 87% passrate. The highest performer was Viwemi Mwanza who had an average of 73% and the lowest performer was KhamaDilawo who had an average of 20%. The pass rate dropped from last year’s from 95% to 87%.

However, it should be noted that according to the individual expected performance of students; the students performed much better than what was expected by teachers. And these are some of the reasons why:

  1. Most of the students were below average since form 1.
  2. Poor individual student performance during internal examinations.
  3. Poor performance during Checkpoint examinations in 2015.
  4. 40% of the students joined from other schools.

There were some improved performances from TupaliweNyondo who got an average of 70% and MutashiKalisha who got an average of 68% because both of these students failed in the previous 2016 IGCSE examinations.

AS LEVEL EXAMINATIONS

There was 100% passrate. The highest performer was HamidaMussa who had an average of 66% and the lowest performer was Wilma Mutize who had an average of 40%. The passrate was maintained from last year’s.

However it should be noted that according to the individual expected performance of students; the students performed much better than what was expected by teachers. And these results are the best AS level results since May 2015. The individual students’ performance quality was better than last year’s.

There were some improved performances from HamidaMussa who got an average of 66% and Wilma Mutize who got an average of 40% because both of these students failed in the previous 2016 AS level examinations.
