SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
The following is a brief summary of the new and revised paragraphs in the Standard for Hand-Held Motor-Operated Electric Tools – Safety – Part 2-5: Particular Requirements For Circular Saws, UL 60745-2-5, which have a future Effective Date of March 31, 2014 and the action that may be required to determine compliance.
NOTE: This is a consolidated review of all circular saws covering the requirements of both the 4th edition and the 5th edition of UL 60745-2-5. The effective date for all circular saws is now March 31, 2014.
Paragraphs / General Subject and Comment /1 / Added a Note to Scope; Saws designed for use with abrasive wheels as cut-off machines are covered by Particular Requirements for Cut-Off Machines, UL 60745-2-22.
Comment: UL 60745-2-22 will be published on June 15, 2012. All Cut-Off Machines that have been certified to UL 60745-2-5 will be required to be reviewed and comply with UL 60745-2-22 by March 31, 2014.

Comment: Report should be revised to specify name change.

8.1 / Terminology changes to markings. Also allows for blade diameter range to be marked.
