Believe In Yourself, As I Believe In You!!

Do You Have The Will To Succeed!!

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT INCREASES DESIRED EXPECTATIONS

Welcome parents and students to NortheastHigh School at the Frederick Douglass Campus. I, Mrs. T. Thomas, along with Mr. Sherrill are pleased to have the pleasure of teaching your child Algebra I Math Lab in Room 248 for the 2014-2015 school year.Algebra I Math Lab builds strength in reasoning and number sense, because the real-world applications demand that solutions make sense. Through contextual problem solving and the mathematical modeling of real situations, the course gives the students the motivation to persevere through routine and non-routine problems, and as a result, develop strength and confidence in their mathematics ability.Students will attend class 3rd period A and C Days and earn ½ general elective credit. Students will be given a grade for each marking period for the Algebra I Math Lab.

Teamwork and Independent Learning Processes will play a major role in the classroom.

Final Note:

Throughout the school year students will demonstrate multiple opportunities to use, construct, question, model, and interpret real-world situations through symbolic algebraic representations, graphical representations, geometrical representations, and verbal representations. Also, as the student progresses he/she will become confident in their ability to think mathematically which will enable them to communicate and reason mathematically through applications of real-world situations.

YOUR CHILD’S CLASS EXPECTATIONS ARE:

a.) Come to class daily and on time

b.) Your child is prepared, respectful, independent, dedicated, and

engaged throughout the class period

c.) Exhibits the Correct Attitude, Correct Mindset, and Work Ethic

d.) Raise their Hand & Wait to be called on

e.) Trust/Believe in themselves that they can be successful

Through the collaboration of teachers , you (the parent/guardian), staff, and your child (the student), this will be a successful school year.
