Subject: Student Information Retrieval Service (SIRS) Information
January 20, 2016
To the District and ESC Testing Coordinator Addressed:
Student Information Retrieval Service (SIRS) for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) grades 3–8 and end-of-course (EOC) administrations, including STAAR L and STAAR A, and Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) is now available through the STAAR Assessment Management System. This service is useful in obtaining assessment results from previous administrations for students who are new to your school district. Prior year results will be provided for students in grades 3–8. Cumulative results will be provided for students tested with STAAR EOC.
As part of this service, the following reports will be available through the Assessment Management System:
- Individual Student Record Data File
This file will contain data for all records included in the uploaded SIRS request file that were successfully matched to the student data file for the appropriate test administrations. Separate files will be created for each test administration to which student records were matched. All files will be provided in CSV format.
- No-Match List
The No-Match List will contain all records from the district-supplied file that were not successfully matched to the student data file.
To order SIRS reports, log in to the STAAR Assessment Management System at then select ReportStudents and proceed to the SIRS tab. Download the spreadsheet template, enter the student ID (as used for PEIMS), first and last names, and date of birth (DOB) of the students whose results you wish to have reported, and upload the file. The match criteria requires a correct student ID AND 2 out of 3 of the standard identifying data fields (first name, last name, DOB).
After uploading the file, a record of the request will be listed under View SIRS Reports. The Status column will indicate the status of the requested file(s) as either Requested, Fulfilled, or Upload Failed. If errors are found during processing, they must be corrected and the file resubmitted before the request will be processed.
SIRS reports and data files will be available for download approximately 48 hours after a data file is successfully submitted.
