Subject: NAVY HAS NEW ANSWER SHEETS FOR ADVANCEMENT EXAMINATIONS

To all,

Starting in August of 2013, Reserve exams Cycle 093, and for September 2013, Active Duty exams Cycle 220, new answer sheets(green vice red )form NETPDTC 1430/2 have been created which will require the Sailor's DOD-ID number vice a Sailor's SSN. This is due to DoD wide SSN reduction initiative. I received a couple of emails on this issue so I asked for some clarification to provide to the NC community, see below.

"Here is some information provided by the NETPDTC office responsible for this form:

In regards to the DOD-ID for Cycle 220, Cycle 093 and subsequent exam cycles the following is provided:

1. The DOD-ID is embedded in the Bar Code on the Green Answer Sheet, (Just like the SSN# was embedded in the Bar Code on the Red Answer Sheet). The DOD-ID will be printed in readable form on the Green Answer Sheet for all TIR Orders (Just as the SSN# was printed in readable form on the Red Answer Sheet).

The only time a member will be required to bubble in a DOD-ID is if they have a blank answer sheet (i.e for split exams, early exam orders and substitute exams etc.) Same process used with the Red Answer Sheet and SSN#.

****The Bulk of the Answer Sheets (TIR Orders) that you receive will have the members DOD-ID embedded in the BAR CODE and displayed in readable form on the answer sheet (Just as the SSN# was on the RED Answer Sheet)*****

2. Blank Green Answer Sheets without the Bar Code and DOD-ID in readable form printed on them will be mailed out with Early Exams Orders and Substitute Exam Orders (Same process as was used for the Red Answer Sheets). In these situations, the member will simply turn her/his CAC ID over and copy the DOD-ID off of it and onto the answer sheet and bubble the answer sheet in (Same process used with the Red Answer sheet).

The DOD-ID is printed on the Back of the members CAC-ID."

Your POC for the new form is Mr. Haywood West, Cc on this email.

Bottom line - the change should be fluid and without major conflicts. But.... I received an email from a PSC that stated that "If a Sailor has an old CAC with no DOD-ID number on the back, and their EAOS is greater than 90 days out, the ID card office will not issue a new card. However, you can obtain your ID number by pulling your CAC from your computer. This locks your computer, and if you look at the 10 digit number in the lock box on your computer screen, this is your DOD-ID number."

Once again, the bulk of the answer sheets that will be received by commands will have the DOD-ID embedded and displayed just like before when the Navy used SSN.

I hope this helps.
