Position / Committee: Young Women in Public Affairs Award
Goals:
***Increase the number of clubs submitting Applications for District award from 13 to 15
***Increase District 12 knowledge for the YWPA scholarships by
(1)Updating YWPA information on the D12 website
(2)Posting names of clubs that offer a YWPA scholarship and dates and that applications are due to that club.
(3) Ensure that clubs know of the press release and other documents for recruiting
YWPA applicants by January 15th and announcing the local YWPA winners byApril 1st
***Partner with clubs ( D12 public relations committee)to encourage active promotion and public relations of the YWPA award by:
(1)Encouraging at least 2 clubs to post their application date/process on their Facebook pages by
January 15th and post their club’s winner information on their Facebook pages by May 1st
(2)Encouraging clubs to post names and pictures of annual club winners on the D12 website
By May 1st
(3)Sending acknowledgment letters by May 15th to all the applicants and the clubs notifying them that the District 12 selection had been made and thanking them for their applications
(4)Sending congratulations letter by May 15th to the District 12 winner and advising her that her application has been forwarded on for consideration at International.
(5)Posting annual District 12 YWPA winner to District 12 website by July 15th (and if International winner promote on District 12 website by August 1st and in the first published Outreach after the award announcement).
(6)Promoting the district winner in the news media by July 15th
Accomplishments (to date) & plans for the upcoming year to meet the objectives (be specific)
▪Accomplishments:
- District 12 received 10 applications from our local clubs
- Three judges reviewed the applications and our District winner was chosen:
ANNALESE WARNER from Billings, Montana, who is attending school at the University of Montana. A presentation of an YWPA certificate and $500 was presented to her on May 20 at the Zonta Club of Billings InstallationDinner. Each judge received and thank you and a ZONTA INTERNATIONAL pottery mug with a District 12 brochure, as our thanks.
- Acknowledgement letter and congratulations were sent to all applicants and local clubs on May 15th, included in each of the letters was a District 12 brochure.
- District Application was forwarded to International by May 1st
- Invitation was extended to Annalese to attend the Sept 25th District Banquet in Boulder Colorado
▪Plans:
oFollow up on encouraging Clubs to post their local winners on their website and the District 12 website
oFollow up on the September invitation with our District winner.
oPost the District winner and International winners on the District 12website by July 15th and send out the final press releases on our District 12 winner
oPresent the final $1000 check from International to our District winner by July 15th
oPrepare for 2016 by contacting local clubs earlier and getting 15+ clubs to submit applications
