15 Minutes- Complete SLC Scripts / As a class we will complete our SLC scripts in preparation for SLC’s on Friday. I WILL COLLECT SLC SCRIPTS!!! / SLC Script
10 Minutes – Guided Practice / Together we will define theme. (central message or central idea found within a piece of literature) Students will write this definition in their daybooks. As a class we will discuss the differences between theme and topic using page 318 in our textbooks. We will discuss the themes of various texts we’ve read this year. / Daybooks

15 Minutes – Guided and Independent Practice / Together we will find the theme in a fable and a poem on page 319. Together we will answer the close read questions. / Textbook page 319 and Daybook
30 Minutes- Guided and Independent Practice / I will read the Japanese Folk tale “Gombei and the Wild Ducks” to the class. In partners they will answer the close read questions 1-6 in their daybooks.
5 Minutes – Packup / Write homework in planners, packup.
