Listed below are the details pertinent to the Championship Final

ADMISSION

Tickets will be available at the Stadium ticket booths located at the entrance to Dedeaux Field. The ticket booth and gates will open at 4:00 PM. The following passes will be accepted for admission: 2016-17 CIF Los Angeles City Section Executive Pass, CIF Gold Life Pass and the 2016-17 State CIF Athletic Pass.

Tickets can be purchased at the venue on the day of the game. There will be no pre-sale.

EVENT STAFF

The Section Office will provide all working staff for the Championship Events. The event will be managed by Abel Navar, the Baseball Coordinator.

SUPERVISION

Administrative and/or faculty supervision is required for spectator control at for all playoff and championship contest. Games played at an off campus site require an administrative representative from both school (see rule 1308 in Gold Book). Respectful behavior is required of all spectators at all times. Administrator and/or Athletic Directors are expected to monitor their dugout at the semi-final and final rounds; only qualified coaches, players, team managers and a school photographer will be permitted in the dugout. No children under high school age are allowed in the team dugout or on the field at anytime during the event (request for exceptions will not be granted). Unauthorized individuals are not allowed on the field before, during, or after the games. All school behavior and sportsmanship rules and policies will be enforced during the event.

L.A.U.S.D. POLICE

Police for Championship Events will be arranged by the Section Office.

PARTICIPANT PASSES

Athletes and coaches in uniform will be admitted as a team. Each team will have the following passes issued: 2 student managers, 1 score keeper, 4 administrators, 2 athletic directors, 2 faculty supervision, and two passes for the school newspaper/yearbook staff (reporter and/or photographer). School photographers and reporters will be allowed on the field prior to 30 minutes before the start of the game, and after the concussion of the game.

HOME TEAM DESIGNATION & SEATING

As voted by the Baseball Advisory Committee, the designated “Home Team” will be the higher seeded team in the championship game. The “Home Team” will be assigned the 3rd base dugout and the visiting team will be assigned the 1st base dugout. Students and other spectators are assigned to the same side of the field. Participating schools are required to provide supervision to maintain seating in assigned area only. Seating will be available on the IN-FIELD LEVEL only. Other areas in the stadium will be closed to the public unless additional seating is necessary. Spectators who become disorderly will be removed from the stadium.

ENTRANCE TO STADIUM/PARKING : Spectator parking for this event can be accessed from Gate 6 and Parking Structure A. All spectators will enter USC through Gate 6 on Vermont Blvd at 36th Place, between Jefferson and Exposition Blvd. The entrance to Dedeaux Field is at 1021 Childs Way, between the Tennis Stadium and Howard Jones football practice field. For directions to Dedeaux Field, use USC website www.usc.edu and click on the general directions link.

PARKING: Parking fee at USC will be $12.00, it is recommended to park in Lot #6 or Structure A. Participating schools will be provide 4 parking vouchers,and selected guest will be provided a parking voucher to use as payment for parking at the entrance booth. You will be given a receipt by the parking attendant that must be displayed on your dashboard. Team Buses will be allowed to park in the yellow zone on McClintock Street, next to Dedeaux Field.

STADIUM POLICY – ITEMS NOT ALLOWED IN STADIUM

All persons entering the stadium will be subject to search. The following are items of contraband and will not be allowed in the stadium. Glass of any type, plastic bottles larger than 1 liter, broken factory sealed liquid containers, thermoses, cans, weapons, poles, umbrellas, backpacks/bags/purses (larger than 14 inches square), coolers, beach balls, inflatable objects, banners, signs, flags, use of laser pointers, explosives of any type, boom boxes, air horns, whistles, musical instruments, and pets. Exceptions: Service animals for the disabled. Parents with infants are advised to bring their baby supplies in a small size diaper bag. No backpacks will be allowed in the stadium. No smoking is allowed in the stadium. There will be NO RETURNS ALLOWED FOR SPECTATORS THAT LEAVE THE STADIUM.

TEAM LOCKER ROOM FACILITIES

Team locker rooms will not be available at the stadium. Participants are to come dressed in game uniforms. All equipment is to be stored in the dugout during your game. You are reminded to bring sufficient water for your team. At the end of the contest, you will be required to remove all debris your team produces. General public restrooms will be available before, during and after the game.

TOWELS

Teams must provide their own towels. Coaches are responsible for removing all items brought in and cleaning up any debris in the dugouts at the end of the game.

OFFICIAL BASEBALL

Diamond is the official baseball sponsor for the CIF Los Angeles City Section. The Diamond CIFLA baseball will be provided by the Athletics Office for all championship games.

BAT PERSON AND BALL RETRIEVER

Each team must provide a bat person and someone to retrieve foul balls along their side of the field. The USC management requests that these students be in uniform. Per Section Bylaws, these assistants must be high school students.

ANNOUNCER AND OFFICIAL SCORER

The Announcer and official score keeper for the Division III Championship will be appointed by the CIF LA City Section Office.

BROADCAST, WEB CAST AND RADIO RIGHTS

Broadcast Rights of all Section Championship games are the exclusive property of the CIF Los Angeles City Section. Direct all inquiries for radio, web cast or televised broadcasts to the CIF Los Angeles City Section Office

at least 14 days prior to the event. For a list of fees associated with a third party agreement, contact the Section Office.

MEDIA PASSES

Representatives from verifiable media outlets who are interested in obtaining a “MEDIA CREDENTIAL” for the championship game can obtain a media credential request form from the section website: www.cif-la.org. Request should be submitted to the Section Office no later than 48 hours prior to the game. All media are to remain outside the playing area and dugouts and remain behind the sideline fencing. Media outlets that will be filming are limited to highlight clips unless they have received approval from Time Warner Cable.

BANDS, DRILL TEAMS AND CHEERLEADERS

Ten (10) participation passes will be given for members of the schools’ Marching Band and Drill Team combine. All individuals must be in full uniform for free admission. Ten (10) participation passes will be given for the cheerleaders that are in full uniform. All auxiliary groups must be accompanied by an adult certificated sponsor/advisory for admission. Bands can play from the stands only, auxiliary groups will not be allowed on the field at anytime. Bands who wish to play the National Anthem prior to the game should contact the Athletics Office prior to the event. Any school requesting to have a student or guest sing the National Anthem should provide students name(s) to John Aguirre at the administrative meeting.

CONDUCT OF COACHES AND PLAYERS

As a representative of the finest baseball teams in the CIF Los Angeles City Section, appropriate behavior and good sportsmanship are the expectation of all participants throughout the playoffs without exception. During the game, all NFHS and CIF rules and regulations will be enforced. Players and coaches must remain in the dugout at all times, except for persons occupying the coach’s box and the on-deck batter. Administrators from participating schools are encouraged to schedule a player and coaches’ meeting prior to the scheduled playoff game to discuss acceptable behaviors before, during and after the game in accordance with Rules and Regulations Governing Interscholastic Athletics; refer to rule Section Bylaws.

POST GAME CELEBRATIONS

Post game celebrations are to be restricted to the infield grass area and not involve any fluids or ice buckets. No water or Gatorade showers will be allowed. USC management is very concerned about their facility and requests your cooperation. Victory celebrations should be in good taste and respectful of facility and opponents.

DUGOUT ACCESS

Only varsity assistant coaches are permitted to assist the varsity coach in the dugout and/or in the coaches’ boxes. During the game, players and coaches must remain in the dugout at all times, except for persons occupying the coach’s box and the on-deck batter. Each team will be limited to twenty-two (22) uniformed players and may have two managers and one scorekeeper. Excessive personnel will be removed from the dugout. THIS POLICY WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. An Athletic Director and/or Assistant Principal are required to address any issues involving dugout behavior and activities. No other personnel are permitted in the dugout before, during or after the game. Per Section Bylaws, CHILDREN UNDER HIGH SCHOOL AGE ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE FIELD OR DUGOUTS.

ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

A championship organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, May 23, 3:30 PM at Maywood Academy HS to review all championship procedures. Athletic Director and/or Assistant Principal/Athletics from schools qualifying for the Division III finals are required to attend this meeting.

GAME PROTOCOL

Team Arrival - Teams may arrive as early as two (2) hours prior to game time and should plan on beginning team warm-ups in a timely manner as not to interfere with the pre-game infield practice timeline. As voted by the Baseball Advisory Committee, the higher seeded team will be designated the “Home Team” in the championship game. Submit player starting information and any changes to the roster to the announcer’s booth upon team arrival to the stadium.

Pre-Game Warm-Up – Following section regulations, each team will use the outfield closest to its dugout for warm-up and stretching. There will be no pre-game batting practice (pepper and wiffle ball toss will be allow during the warm-up time in the out field area). Teams will have 20 minutes for infield/outfield; Infield/outfield pre-game will begin at 4:00 for the designated home team. Infield/outfield will begin at 4:20 for the designated visiting team. The team not on the field must remain in the dugout until the completion of infield/outfield practice of the opposing team. In order to eliminate excessive wear of the facility, teams are reminded to not use the area in front of the dugouts during warm ups, no pepper, or other warm-up activities will be permitted in or around the dugout area. To assist with the maintenance of the field and to alleviate any potential damage to the playing surface, your complete cooperation is required. Pre-game warm ups will conclude at 4:40 to allow for the final field prep.

Pre-Game Ceremony – Both teams will report to their respective dugouts prior to introductions. Players and coaches will be introduced over the public address system. Each player/coach will exit their dugout and align on the baseline nearest their dugout when their name is announced, first person will start the lineup near third base and work the line toward home as the players are announced. The visiting team will be introduced first followed by the home team. Team order of introductions will be as follows: visiting team reserves, starting players, coaches, home team reserve players, starting players, coaches. The head coaches will be the last introduction and will align near home plate to initiate pre-game hand shake between teams with all coaches and players to follow. The presentation of colors and the playing of the National Anthem will follow. Following the National Anthem, the game officials will be introduced, the head coaches and team captains will meet at home plate for a brief sportsmanship meeting followed by exchange of the line-up cards and the officials meeting.

Post Game Awards Ceremony – The presentation of awards will be held near home plate, both teams are required to participate until the conclusion of the presentation of awards. Twenty-two (22) medals and a team plaque will be presented to both the runner-up and champion. A perpetual trophy will be presented to the Champion. The Principal from each school will be asked to introduce their administrative staff, athletic director and head coach and assist with the award presentation. The head coach will introduce players to present awards. At the conclusion of the award ceremony, each team will have an opportunity for team photos.

Perpetual Trophy – it is the responsibility of the school receiving the perpetual trophy to have the trophy engraved with the year and school name, maintain the trophy in a safe location for one year, then return the trophy to the section office prior to the playoffs for the following year.

Additional Medals

In the event the number of medals is insufficient for the number of participating athletes, the school can contact Trent Cornelius to order additional medals. Additional medal are ordered at the expense of the school. Additional order request are made per season and at the completion of the last championship of the season. The orders usually take two weeks from the date the order is placed with the vendor. The order and billing will be delivered directly to the school via US Mail.
