Subj: FIFTEENTH ANNUAL STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (SUNY) MARITIME COLLEGE JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (JROTC) DRILL MEET

1. The SUNY Maritime College NROTC Unit is proud to host the FifteenthAnnual JROTC Drill Meet on Sunday, 18 October 2015, on the campus ofSUNY Maritime College. I would like to invite you, along with other JROTC Units from the surrounding area, to participate in this Drill Meet.

2. This event consists of a full day of competitions between NJROTC, MCJROTC, AFJROTC, and AJROTC from throughout the Northeast. The top three finishers in each category will receive trophies, and the top finisher in the overall event will also receive the annual trophy.

3. The event will commence at 0730 and conclude at approximately 1630 on Sunday followed by a closing ceremony and trophy presentation. A “Units Senior Brief” will be held in the NROTC conference room located in the Marvin Tode Hall at 0700. There will also be a “Unit Leaders Brief” with the Senior Judge for each event at 0700 in front of the registration desk. We have expanded the events to include the following:

a. Platoon Armed Basic*

b. Platoon Unarmed Basic*

c. Squad Armed Basic*

d. Squad Unarmed Basic*

e. Squad Unarmed Basic*- First year only

f. Platoon Armed Trick

g. Two-Cadet Armed Trick

h. Color Guard*

i. Personnel Inspection w/ weapons*

j. Leadership Physical Challenge- 6 man team*

k. All Hands Knockout - Unarmed

4. Concessions will be available during the drill meet and many local area restaurants are available for those needing dinner.

5. The entry fee is a flat rate of $175.00. Please return the enclosed registration form no later than 25 September 2015 so that we may begin to schedule events. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Only the first 18 units making a FULL payment of $175.00 for the reservation will secure a spot in the competition due to limited space. Please fill out the forms legibly with the instructor as the Point of Contact, not a student.

6. The entry fee allows each school to enter one team, and only one team, per event. This includes the eight graded events required for the overall trophy as well as teams for the four events not graded in the overall trophy. A fee of $2.00 per individual for the Knockout events are payable at the registration and throughout the Drill meet or at the event table prior to the Knockout event. We ask that the Senior Instructors collect the money for the knockout events and purchase the tickets in bulk.

7. A raffle will also be held at the end of the knockout event. Tickets will be sold throughout the Drill Meet and at the event table. Parents and instructors are welcome to participate in the raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1.00.

8. An overall meet champion will be awarded a trophy, which will be engraved with the winning unit's name and kept by the winning unit until the next competition. The eight above events marked with an asterisk (*) will make up the overall competition.

9. The drill Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with information concerning specific events, drill deck dimensions, and other useful information is included with this invitation. All units attending must follow the MCO P5060.20 Drill and Ceremony Manual. 10. In past years foul weather has considerably interfered with this event. Should foul weather occur on the day of the event all evolutions will be moved indoors on campus. Facilities are reserved for this purpose.
