SUBJ:Ameristone™ Reminder

Attached is a copy of our Dryvit Applicator/Contractor Notification Letter, Ameristone Spray Application Instructions (DS142), and a Dryvit Ameristone Application Record Form. These documents explain the procedures that must be followed when doing an Ameristone job. Other items to note:

1)Please contact me as soon as you know you have an Ameristone project so that I can schedule to do an Ameristone Wet Wall (applicator's making of the mock-up sample), and schedule to be at the job site when the applicator is ready to start spraying. We all know that in most cases, I am being contacted after the job has already started and the architect/owner calls you and/or myself and states "the Ameristone on the building does not match the 12" x 12" slim sample I was given."

2)The contractor must make an 8' x 8' mock-up sample using the same spray equipment and person that will spray on the job site to spray the sample - NOT DRYVIT PERSONNEL. This completed mock-up should be the contract between the owner/architect and applicator regarding what is expected and what can be achieved - NOT THE SLIM SAMPLES.

3)In order to make the mock-up sample, order two 5-gallon pails of Ameristone Finish for each color chosen by the owner/architect - NOT 1-GALLON SAMPLE PAILS. This would be enough material to do a Wet Wall (let the applicator practice before he sprays the mock-up sample) and enough material to do the mock-up sample (8' x 8' = 64 sq. ft.). Also order 1 gallon of the matching Color Prime™ for each color and 1 gallon of SealClear™ if it will be used. As we all know, as of September 25, 1997, SealClear is no longer required (refer to Advertising Bulletin 97-17) for Ameristone and Stone Mist®. However, if desired or required as a result of being specified on a specific job basis, then the SealClear needs to be applied to the mock-up sample as well.

4)The owner/architect must approve the mock-up sample prior to applying the Ameristone on the job site. After the owner/architect approves the mock-up sample, ALL OF THE AMERISTONE FINISH MUST BE ORDERED AT ONE TIME FOR THE ENTIRE JOB. DRYVIT CANNOT AND WILL NOT GUARANTEE BATCH MATCHES ON RE-ORDERS. Calculate the coverage at 60 sq. ft./pail. Be sure to order the corresponding Color Prime and SealClear (if required) at the same time (see attached Ameristone Ordering Guide and Corresponding Color Prime Chart for determining the appropriate number of pails and color of Color Prime to

order). NOTE: SealClear, unlike most of our other products, has a minimum substrate and air temperature requirement of 50 º or higher and must remain so for a minimum of 24 hours under average drying conditions. Remember the finish should be totally dry prior to applying the SealClear. Please inform the owner/architect that there could be a slight color difference due to ordering the mock-up and job site finish at different times.

5)Allow 5 to 10 working days for the plant to process your sample orders (2 pails for the Wet Wall) if they have the stones for the color you have chosen. If not, then the plant should be able to give you an approximate time of delivery. PLEASE GIVE THE PLANT NOTIFICATION OF AN AMERISTONE JOB AS SOON AS YOU ARE AWARE OF IT SO THEY CAN BE PREPARED TO FILL YOUR ORDER.

6)Normally allow 2-3 weeks from date of order to shipment.

7)A Dryvit Field Service Manager MUST be present when the applicator is ready to apply the Ameristone on the job site.

Prior to my initial visit, give the applicator a copy of this memo along with all attachments. At the same time, discuss with the applicator the need for applying the base coat in two passes versus one to eliminate imperfections in the surface of the base coat. Imperfections in the base coat are magnified when finish is spray applied. He should also have the following completed:

1)The mock-up sample (8' x 8' wall) base coated and the Color Prime applied.

2)A clean hand-held hopper spray gun.

3)An air compressor in good working condition.

4)An Air Line Regulator (Sears Air Line Regulator and Gauge, Model No. 282.160251) that has a gauge at the hopper gun, in addition to THE ONE AT THE COMPRESSOR, to regulate the air pressure. This will allow the compressor to be adjusted to high, thus avoid surging of the air pressure. Surging will cause texture variations.

These same guidelines should be followed for Stone Mist jobs. REMEMBER TO CONTACT ME AS SOON AS YOU KNOW YOU HAVE AN AMERISTONE OR STONE MIST JOB. If you have any questions concerning Ameristone or Stone Mist finishes, please give me a call (phone number).
