SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN PORT AFFAIRS OF THE HEMISPHERE
THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF THE INTER-AMERICAN COMMITTEE ON PORTS,
HAVING SEEN:
The Report of the Second Meeting of the Subcommittee on the Participation of Women in Port Affairs of the Hemisphere; and
CONSIDERING:
That, through resolution CECIP/RES. 13 (VII-05), the Executive Board of the Inter-American Committee on Ports created the Subcommittee on the Participation of Women in Hemispheric Port Issues.
That the 2004-2007 Action Plan of the CIP approved through resolution CIDI/CIP/RES. 42 (III-03), and is implemented by the Executive Board and its Subcommittees; and
That it is necessary to evaluate the activities of the Subcommittee on the Participation of Women in Port Affairs of the Hemisphere, realized during 2006, approved through document CECIP/RES. 13 (VII-05); and
That it is necessary to define the 2007 Work Plan of the Subcommittee on the Participation of Women in Port Affairs of the Hemisphere;
RESOLVES:
- To thank the delegation of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela, Vice-Chair of this Subcommittee, for presenting the report on its 2006 activities.
- To approve the following 2007 Work Plan of this Subcommittee:
- To develop the greatest participation of member States, defining at a national level a coordinator and producing a corresponding database.
- To urge the Committee to use as a footer “Year of the Port Woman” in the written communications of the subcommittees.
- To organize and hold a nationwide forum in each member State, in order to evaluate the role of women in port activities and that its conclusions and recommendations be presented at the next meeting of the Subcommittee and the Second Seminar for Port Woman in the American continent.
- To hold the Second Seminar for Port Woman, in the Dominican Republic.
- To hold a Special Meeting of the Subcommittee during the Second Seminar for Port Woman in the American continent and evaluate questions received through website, in order to identify areas of training and updating of the rules of procedure and conclusions of Nationwide Forums held.
- To celebrate the Third Meeting of the Subcommittee as part of the invitation for CIP events, in 2007.
- To formulate the 2008 Work Plan.
- To entrust the delegation of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela, which presides this Subcommittee and the delegation of the Dominican Republic, in its capacity of Vice-Chair, with the responsibility of guaranteeing the fulfilment of this resolution. In addition, that all member States, and in particular those who form part of this Subcommittee (Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominica, Ecuador, Jamaica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago) support the compliance of the 2007 Work Plan.
