A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF THE ABBEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ TRACK TEAM ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR WINNING THE 1998 STATE CLASS AA TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are very pleased to learn that the Abbeville High School Boys’ Track Team won the 1998 Class AA State Track and Field Championship recently held in Columbia at the University of South Carolina track and field facilities; and

Whereas, the Abbeville Boys’ Track Team had a 17-10 record for the regular season, placed second in their region competition and, at the conclusion of their run for the 1998 championship, the Abbeville Boys’ Track Team had amassed sixty-six points, fourteen and one-half points ahead of second place Columbia; and

Whereas, this outstanding accomplishment marks the second Class AA State Track and Field Championship for this outstanding Abbeville Boys’ Track Team in a row, and the third such championship since 1979, and continues a tradition of track and field excellence at Abbeville High School; and

Whereas, under the tutelage of Coach Doug Blosser, the members of the 1998 Abbeville High School Boys’ Class AA State Championship Track Team consisted of Cornell Anderson, Mario Anthony, Brian Brownlee, Emeka Burton, Chris Crawford, Patrick Crosby, Jason Devette, Dennis Hughey, Terrance Jones, Derrick Killingsworth, Sammie London, Dennis Maeger, Keenan Marshall, Rico Marshall, David Norman, Leland Paul, Elihu Peterson, Travis Power, Anthony Quarles, Chris Rayford, Warren Snow, Andy Thomas, Dale Thomas, Tripp White, Brent Williams, Titus Williams, and Managers Jarrett Parker, and Trey Barton; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize, commend, and congratulate Coach Blosser, the staff, and each member of the team upon the occasion of their winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives hereby commend and congratulate the members, coaches, and staff of the Abbeville High School Boys’ Track Team on the occasion of their winning the 1998 State Class AA Track and Field Championship.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Doug Blosser and to Abbeville High School.
