STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT

1.  Any students loitering on campus after they are released will be placed in a study hall. This will include all parking lots and in the front of the school.

2.  Show your support of Arrow Baseball by buying an "Arrow Nation" t-shirt and wearing it to the playoff gamenext Thursday. See a Diamond Girl to purchase one. Shirts are $12.

3.  AttentionAPstudents takingAPExams:Balances forAPExams can be paid any time prior to the day of the test (the earlier the better). Payment must be cash or money order to CHS. Payments will be accepted before school, 1st period, 2nd period and Homeroom only.

4.  NHS Students: The final projects for service credits will be posted in W207 in the next week. If you are not finished, you MUST come sign up for what is available. Do not wait any longer and risk receiving unexcused, probations, or dismissals.

5.  A list of the students accepted into the Career Pathway Experience Program for the 2014- 2015 school year will be posted in the counselors office today. There will be an important meeting for all new CPE students during Activities PeriodThursday May 1, 2014in room C206. If for any reason you are not able to come to this meeting please email Mrs. Foshee .

6.  Attache’ Audition sheets and signup for next year for singer/dancer, Pit, and Crew are available from Mr. Fehr. Thanks!

7.  CHS Boys Basketball tryouts areMonday, April 28, andTuesday April 29, at the CHS gym. Tryouts are for current 9th through 11th graders. In order to tryout, you must have a parent consent form and a current physical. You will not be allowed to tryout if you do not have both of these items.

8.  This is the last reminder for YOGA pants, SPANDEX OR COTTON. This also includes THIN COTTON FITTED JOGGING PANTS. If your shirt does not meet dress code (No MORE THAN 4 INCHES ABOVE THE KNEE) it will be treated as jeggings or leggings. Detentions will be issued with no exceptions.

9.  Are you a CERTIFIED lifeguard? Are you interested in earning $10 an hour by working at a 5-day summer campJune 7-11? If so, see Mrs. Berry for more information. The camp is for pediatric cancer patients living in Mississippi and is a wonderful experience!

10.  Student who do not have their ID around their neck and visible will receive double detentions.

11.  Attention Girls:Try-outs for the 2014-2015 Lady Arrow Basketball Team will be held Thursday, May 1st, and Friday, May 2nd, from4:00-6:00 p.m.in the CHS gym. You must have a signed consent form and a physical on file in order to tryout.You may pick up consent forms from the front office and sign up in room W114.If you have any questions, see Coach Lofton-Burton.

12.  The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Mississippi is in need ofMALEvolunteers age 18andoverfor its annual MDA Summer Campin UticaMay 31-June 5. This opportunity is extended to anybody, not just Medical Center faculty, staff and students. The camp is for Mississippi families with children ages 6-17 with a diagnosis of a neuromuscular disease covered by MDA. The camps operate at NO COST to the camper families. 13.  Students it is time to apply for the Clinton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Programfor the upcoming 2014-2015 school year! CCYL participants will have fun! Activities and sessions will include learning about personal leadership styles, business etiquette, the history of our city, and entrepreneurship fundamentals. All sessions will be led by experts in their respective fields and participants will have a unique opportunity to be challenged and engaged in ways that will help build future leaders oftomorrow. Students will also become active learners by participating in various community service activities planned throughout the year.Applications are available at the front office as well as the Chamber of Commerce in Clinton. All applications must be mailed byMay 30, 2014. Get your application today!

14.  ANCHOR CLUB: There are several service projects posted outside Mrs. Berry's room. Stop by if you still need your service credit for this semester!

GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

2014 Phi Gamma Delta Toward Excellence Scholarship. Three scholarships are available: $1,000; $500; and $250 for any male attending Mississippi State University in the fall. All materials are due byMay 30th 2014. Application may be picked up in the guidance office.

For seniors planning on attending Delta Technical College in the fall, there are 2 scholarships available; applications may be picked up in the guidance office.

The Clinton Community Development Foundation is now accepting applications for teacher mini-grants of up to $250. CCDF has awarded more than 100 grants since they began this program and most of the grant recipients were CPSD teachers.

Verification sheets for the 2014-2015 school year for upcoming 11th graders (current 10th graders) will be distributed during homeroom onThursday, May 1st. Please get a parent signature and return promptly to your homeroom teacher byTuesday, May 6th. This will be the only opportunity to make schedule changes. If a verification sheet is not returned, course choices will remain the same. Due to state testing, if you find it difficult to get to your homeroom teacheron MondayandTuesday, you may turn your verification sheet in to the counselor's office. Deadline isTuesday, May 6th at 3:45.

2014 Summer SLAM Program

The Student Scholarship Organization has given us information on 10 different scholarships for Mississippi high school students. For more detailed information on these scholarships please visit the guidance office.

IDA Hope Thornton Scholarship

The scholarship grant for 2014 is $1,000 for a student planning to attend a college or university in the state of Mississippi. Applications are limited to those planning to major in English, Journalism, or Agriculture. Please pick up applications in the guidance department.

CESTEME Summer Bridge

June 2-June 27, 2014

The CESTEME Summer Bridge program is limited to incoming JSU freshman STEM students and it is specifically designed to facilitate their transition and success into STEM degree programs at JSU. The CESTEME Summer Bridge program provides an excellent opportunity for students to engage in a dynamic and interactive 4-week program.

Students selected to participate in the CESTEME Summer Bridge must meet the following criteria:

·Planning to attend or admitted to JSU (fall 2013)

·Plan to pursue a STEM degree program of study

·ACT Composite Score – 20 or above and Sub scores in Math and Science – 20 or above

·Complete a Bridge Application with a copy of high school transcript
