Students & Parents/Guardians,

First of all I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year and I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season. With the holidays behind us now, we look forward to the upcoming months with the knowledge that the Quebec Trip is only just a few months in the future – 109 days but who is counting. That being said some important information to take in and to be aware of …

IMPORTANT DATES & INFORMATION

January 14, 2012 – YARD SALE & CANTEEN

We have the cafeteria booked for a community Yard Sale. This is an opportunity for students to bring in their old and used family junk and sell it off. Students NEED to reserve a table with Mr.O by this Tuesday, January 10th so that we can know what we need to have available for the day. Students will be responsible for having their own change available and set-up for the event will be available Friday, January 13th, from 3:30 to 7:00pm. The Yard Sale will run from 9:00 to 2:00 on Saturday in conjunction with the Senior Boy’s Basketball Tournament so this is a wonderful way to earn a few extra bucks before the January payment is due.

* Students will take home whatever they earn at their table that day. No money has to be turned in to Mr.O.

We will also be running a small canteen at the basketball tournament. We are looking for donations from students that we are able to sell as canteen items during the tournament. Items that we are looking for are as follows:

CROCK POT CHILICLEMENTINESGRANOLA BARS

BOWLSSPOONSCROCK POT CORN CHOWDER

COOKIESRICE KRISPIE SQUARESAPPLES

COFFEEMUFFINSSQUARES

NAPKINSBUNSWATER BOTTLES

JUICE BOXESBANANASHOT CHOCOLATE

MILKSUGARGRILLED CHEESE SUPPLIES

CUPSSTIR STIXPERK

KETTLE

Any other suggestions that you can come up with would be wonderful. We will not be selling pizza as Poppa D’s will also be at the tournament selling pizza.

Please let Mr.O know if you are willing to help out by bringing in supplies. The more you can contribute the better. Please let Mr.O know as soon as possible what you are able to contribute as soon as possible.

Any parents or students interested in helping with the canteen can speak to Mr.O as at the moment he will be the one working the canteen. Food supplies need to be in by Friday, January 13th, if possible so that we can set up and provide the most food over the greatest period of time. The canteen will be running Friday from 3:30 to 7:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 3:00.

* Students who contribute food to the canteen will be entitled to a portion of the profits that we make.

January 18, 2012 – GUPPIES NIGHT

Guppie’s Restaurant in New Germany has been kind enough to provide us with a time, 5:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday night, to have them donate a portion of the funds made to the trip. That being said for this event to be successful we need people to indulge their hunger and eat out at Guppie’s that night. We will be advertising this event in hope’s that we can not only provide Guppie’s with lots of business but as well earn lots of money for the trip.

We are looking for anyone interesting in performing that night to let Mr.O know as it always draws a bigger crowd when there is some wonderful entertainment.

* Students will receive a portion of the funds for that evening. So obviously the bigger the crowd the bigger the portion the students will receive.

VALENTINES BASKET

The lottery number has been requested and once we have that tickets will be made up for the Valentine’s Basket. We are once again asking students to contribute $2.00 (a toonie) or a Valentine’s appropriate item so that we can have another wonderful basket to advertise and sell tickets on. The draw for that will be on February 10th.

PENNY DRIVE

We will be adjusting our Penny Drive to the month of February as it is just not possible to get set up in January. More information will follow on this.

*****

Finally after all that information, students will be receiving an update on what is in their fundraising accounts to date next week. The memo will be sent home so that parents can decide how to best use the funds that have been raised to date. If you decide to use the funds against a payment that is fine, just send a note in letting me know that you decided to do that.

Payment Schedule:3rd Payment – January 27th - $175.00

4th Payment – March 2nd - $175.00

If there are any problems in getting the payments in by those dates please let me know as soon as possible so that I know what the situation is.

I will advertise as well for Pro-Kids for anyone interested in following that program. If you go to the Municipality of Lunenburg’s web-site … … under the site search type in Pro Kids and you should find application forms and more information about this program.

THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT,

Michael O’Hearon
