Students of Department of E&C Engineering won prizes at eYantra 2015

eYantra is a Robotics competition conducted by IIT - Bombay every year from 2012; it is funded by MHRD of India. The competition is well organized in a few phases. First phase is to register in a team of four (multidisciplinary teams are more than welcome). All the teams registered, will be allotted a time slot and they will have to give an online test which is the primitive requirement of this competition. The online test includes questions from basic electronics, programming, aptitude and basic maths. The best part about this is, each student gets the questions of different difficulty levels depending on their year of study.

In the eYantra 2015 competition, 19568 students from all over India had registered i.e 4892 teams. GIT had more than 10 teams registered for this.

After the successful first round, GIT had 4 teams which were qualified for the competition. These four teams received a robotic kit from IIT-B. They were given tasks with deadlines associated with each of them. These included preparation of the arena, theme analysis, theme implementation, coding-testing etc.

The members of those four groups with their assigned themes are listed below:

·  Pizza delivery service
Ganesh Mogera(Team leader), Bhaskar Joshi, Kunal Kamat, Sagar Gondakar

·  Hotel managemnt
Purnanand Jahagirdar(Team leader), Vishal Mahajan, Mallikarjun Ingalagi, Pratik Sambrani

·  Gas leakage detection
Kartik Katti(Team leader), Pavan Parvati, Pavan Kaujalagi, Atul Patil

·  Courier service
Omkar Phalle(Team leader), Edmund Carvalho, Minal Upadhye, Abhilash Hatapaki

Out of these four teams, teams with the themes Pizza delivery service and Courier service were shortlisted for finals of eYantra 2015. Finals were held at IIT-Bombay on 18th and 19th of March 2016. There were 44 teams from all over India for the finals.

The team lead by Ganesh Mogera secured 5th place in their theme, and the team lead by Omkar Phalle secured 4th place in their theme.
