• Students need 5 grade Cs at GCSE or above for entrance into the Sixth Form. This will normally include grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
  • If students do not achieve grade Cs in English Language or Mathematics they will need to re-sit the examination or part of the examination to achieve this grade by the end of Year 12.
  • Students normally need a grade B at GCSE to continue to study that subject at AS Level.
  • If students wish to study anew subject that they have not studied at GCSE they need to achieve a grade B in a similar subject (please see the back of this sheet for guidance).
  • Similarly if a student wishes to study something at AS Level that they did not study at GCSE they need to have achieved grade B in a similar subject.
E.g. Students who did not study History at GCSE but wish to at AS Level, should achieve a grade B in English Language/Literature)
  • All students in Year 12 will study 4 courses or the equivalent. Students will work with their tutor and a Sixth Form Coordinator to work out which courses they are most suited to.
