2) Identify Assessment Tool(s) to implement / Students will participate in a video- taped mock interview completed with an human resource professional. Each student will be rated on three categories of interview skills.
3a) Expected level of achievement
(Refer to rubric)
3b) Actual results
/ 80 % of students who complete the assessment of the mock interview will be scored on the rubric as performing at a Satisfactory or better level on the combined three skill areas listed on the rubric.
100% of the students completing the assessment were assessed as having Satisfactorily completed the assessment. Of these 80% scored at an Excellent level and 20% scored at a Good level.
4) Explain how collected data was analyzed and evaluated. / During the mock interviews each of the ten students was recorded by use of a digital camera by the instructor. Each of the individual interviews were then reviewed by the instructor and evaluated using the rubric according to three expected outcomes: 1. Student states skills and responds appropriately to questions during an interview. 2. Student is appropriately dressed and groomed, maintains appropriate eye contact and displays other appropriate nonverbal behavior. 3. Student asks appropriate questions about the job and employer and ends interview in a positive manner.
5) Identify gaps between expected and actual results. / During the mock interviews the students all exceeded the expected Satisfactory level of performance by scoring as Good or Excellent. This likely was the result of increased practice in and out of class as well as this class coming together as a group more than some past classes.
6) Document results and outline needed changes. / 100% of the students completing the assessment of their video taped mock interviews were assessed at a Good to Excellent . This is an improvement from the previous assessed class where students scored 83% at a Satisfactory Level and 17% Poor. The teaching strategy implemented was to conduct a previous mock interview with each student with the instructor during the class prior to the actual mock interview. These were conducted in class and each student was rated by the class and time for feedback was also give. It appears that as the students have more practice in completing job interviews they are less nervous and perform at a higher level. The class coming together as a source of feedback may also have had a greater impact on motivating the students to practice more before their video taped interview.
