Using SmartMusic at Concerts

Now that you are using SmartMusic in your curriculum, students are used to SmartMusic being a part of the learning process. Judiciously using SmartMusic as part of a performance can be a rewarding, fun and educational experience especially for beginners. This can also reinforce the use of SmartMusic in your curriculum.
The focus of any concert is to have the students sound as good as possible so that should still be the goal when you using SmartMusic. SmartMusic should only enhance what already sounds great.
Here are some ideas for using SmartMusic as part of a performance.
· Playing as an accompaniment for some of the method book lines. Even the simplest of lines now sound cool!
· As a demonstration of how you are using SmartMusic as part of your class. For example, walk around and give students individual attention on stage!
· Feature entire sections or individuals while SmartMusic is in the accompanist.
· Project SmartMusic on a screen so the audience can see what the students are playing.
o The audience sees the music notation and can follow the cursor. This could be an eye opener for the non-musicians in the audience.
o The accompaniment can be off for this. Just have the count off on.
· Demonstrate some of the special ways you are using SmartMusic in the classroom.
