STUDENT SELF-ASSESSMENT OF CLO’S

2002-2003

As part of the course-level assessment for this year we will conduct student self-assessments of the learning objectives in each class/section that we teach. The process we will use this year is as follows.

1. Each instructor needs to make up a handout sheet with the course learning objectives for the course listed as questions 1-X.

2. At the bottom of this handout sheet will be a list of 7 demographic questions (the same as are asked on the University course evaluation form). These questions will be numbered 20-26. You can cut off the bottom of the example sheet and use it to photocopy the demographic questions onto your handout sheet, or paste your course learning objectives into the upper half of the sheet and print it out.

3. The self evaluation will be done on the scantron general purpose answer sheets (orange bubble sheets). Student should NOT fill out the front page (with information about their names and ID numbers), but only use the rear page to answer the assessment questions.

4. The answer bubbles are for students to agree or disagree with the statement "As a result of this course I have achieved this learning objective." Answer sheet responses are

NOTE: This is in the same order as the responses for the University course evaluation.

5. The self assessment should be done at the same time as the usual course evaluation survey. All response sheets MUST be handed in to the ME office. Please separate the answer sheets into individual sets; one for the course evaluation and one for the self assessment.

6. Instructors of ENGR courses should contact the coordinator for their class to ensure that all classes will be evaluated consistently. ENGR coordinators MUST contact all class instructors as soon as possible to make sure the evaluation gets done this term.
