STUDENT RESPONSE PAD REGISTRATION IN WEBCT-VISTA

You must register your pad with the WebCT site for this course so that the system can receive and keep track of your in-class points. Go to the course WebCT site by going to www.ics.purdue.edu, and logging into Vista. Click on the CPS eInstruction registration icon and fill in the appropriate information.

You will be asked to enter the serial number of the pad. This is found on a barcode sticker inside the battery compartment, so you will need to open it and maybe lift out the batteries to see the number. (You must enter this information even if you have already registered the pad by other means, such as in a previous semester or in another class.) Purdue students do not need an enrollment code, so this field must be left blank.

If you have registered your response pad before and are reregistering the pad for this

class, you must enter the username and password you chose at the time you initially

registered the pad in the I Have Registered a CPS Response Pad before area. (Note, if

you have multiple classes at Purdue that use the eInstruction system, you can use the

same pad for all of them, but you must register your pad for each class.

If you have never registered this CPS pad before or if you have purchased a new pad

that you are registering for the first time, you should choose a username and password

and enter them in the I have Never Registered a CPS Response Pad before area of the

signup page. It is recommended that you use your WebCT username and password.

Once you have entered the information and click Submit, the pad will be registered and

you will be told your Pad Number. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP TRACK

OF THIS PAD NUMBER!!! This number will correspond to the Answer Display Screen

that is visible when questions are answered in class. When doing pad questions in

class, you verify that your answer has been received by a change in color of the box

containing your pad number on the Answer Screen. Therefore, you NEED to know your

pad number.

Pad numbers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis for each course, and you

will have a different pad number in every class where you use this pad!
