Student Progression Activity
For this activity, you will be evaluating your skills of the Spanish language. You will be given a “I can” statement and you will state whether you have mastered the content, you feel confident, you’re progressing, or you’re struggling with the content with a series of symbols listed below. Please try to be honest with yourself and choose the correct symbol. If you are progressing or struggling, please state what you are confused about (“Everything” is not a proper answer, be detailed). Afterwards, you will be given a couple of examples to test your knowledge of the content.
You should be able to use your notes and think independently to find the correct answer. If you are struggling on one or more items, please write the best day in which you can attend a tutoring session. The official tutoring day is Wednesday 3:15 – 4:00pm.
A bullseye states that you have mastered the content. You can successfully find the correct answer with a few minor mistakes. A minor mistake would be small misspellings (i.e.: 20 – “viente” correct spelling is “veinte”). If you are putting a bullseye that means that you should get all of the problems correct with little to no problems.
A star states that you feel confident in achieving the correct answer. This means that you can get the correct answer but you may have one or two things that you get confused on. An example of this would be getting mixed on up on when to use –s or –es when making an adjective plural.
An upwards staircase means that you are progressing in understanding the content. This means that you were struggling with the concepts but are moving in the right direction to finding the correct answer. Using this symbol means that you have gaps in information that need to be filled before finding the correct information. An example of this would be struggling to conjugate verbs because you are missing steps or don’t understand the correlation between a pronoun and finding the correct conjugation ending.
A downwards staircase means that you are struggling to understand the content. This means that you have no idea how to follow certain steps to find the right answer or do not have enough or the correct notes to help guide you to the answer. An example of this would be not understanding how to use a verb in Spanish nor how to conjugate it to show who’s doing the action.
