National Capital Area

The National Capital Area site includes clinical experience at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center hosts a combined Obstetric and Gynecologic department with an accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. There are 24 residents in the program, as well as fellows in the areas of Reproductive Endocrinology, Gynecologic Oncology, and Urogynecology. During your rotation, you will see a variety of patients in surgical, obstetric, and ambulatory settings. The rotation includes the following clinical assignments:

-2 weeks of inpatient Obstetrics with 1 week of labor and delivery and 1 week of “night float” on labor and delivery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

-2 weeks of Gynecologic surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with 1 week on a Gyn specialty service and 1 week on the benign Gyn service

-2 weeks of ambulatory Obstetric and Gynecologic care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with 1 week of Ob clinic and 1 week of Gyn clinic

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital includes clinical experience in both inpatient and ambulatory obstetrics and gynecology at one community hospital location. The hospital hosts an accredited residency program in family medicine. During your rotation, you will see a variety of patients in surgical, obstetric, and ambulatory settings. The rotation includes the following clinical assignments:

- labor and delivery

- gynecologic surgery service (in office, minor and major in OR, DaVinci)

- obstetric service (COB and ROB patients)

- ambulatory obstetric and gynecologic care (including well woman, new problem GYN patients, colposcopy, walk in acute patients)

The San Antonio site includes clinical experience primarily at BAMC with a possibility of rotating at WHMC. General and subspecialty gynecologic services, including urogynecology and gynecologic oncology, are all located at Brooke Army Medical Center. Naval Medical Center Portsmouth

All clerkship activities take place at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, where we have an accredited OB/GYN residency with 24 residents. In addition to very busy routine and complicated obstetric services, we also provide general gynecologic care, as well as subspecialty services in reproductive endocrinology/infertility, urogynecology and gynecologic oncology. You will be involved with the care of patients in ambulatory, surgical, and obstetric settings. Your clerkships will include the following weeks of concentration:

-Routine OB/labor & delivery

-Benign gynecologic surgery

-Reproductive endocrinology/infertility

-Complicated OB

-Gynecologic oncology

-Night watch

Madigan Army Medical Center

The Madigan Army Medical Center Ob/Gyn Department has a robust ambulatory clinic that provides obstetric, gynecologic, and specialty (oncology, reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology, maternal-fetal medicine and genetics) care, in addition to inpatient gynecology and obstetric services. The department has an accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Additionally, the department has a Midwifery Service that interacts collaboratively with the residency and within the department. All clerkship experience is gained through interaction with faculty members and residents on site. During the rotation, students will see a variety of patients in surgical, obstetric, and ambulatory settings. Students may also participate in simulation training with the residents, which occurs once a month. The rotation includes the following clinical assignments:

- Labor and Delivery (day shift and night float)

- Gynecology Service

- Ambulatory obstetric and gynecologic care, including acute care

Langley Air Force Base Hospital

Your experience at Langley Air Force Base will be all inclusive at the new Langley AFB Hospital, where all clinical experience will be located (both outpatient and inpatient). You will be working with multiple attending faculty, consisting of OB/GYN doctors, CNM’s, and WHNP’s. You will also be working with residents from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), who rotate to Langley for GYN surgery each week. During your rotation, you will see a variety of patients in obstetric (both inpatient and outpatient), surgical, and ambulatory care settings. Your rotation includes the following rotation schedule (see Sample Rotation Calendar and Orientation Document):

-2 weeks of GYN, divided between outpatient clinic and OR experience

- 2 weeks of Labor & Delivery experience, divided into 1 weeks of day shift and 1 week of night float

- 2 weeks of Ambulatory care, divided between OB and GYN clinics

You will receive a final schedule specific to your clerkship at orientation on the first day.

You are expected to participate in all conferences that take place during your time at Langley.
