OCTOBER 2016 - OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
September 28-November 6: 40 Days for Life-Dallas. 40 Days for Lifeis a focused pro-life effort that consists of 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil, and community outreach. The prayer vigil will be 7 days a week, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., outside the multi-million dollar Planned Parenthood abortion facility at 7989 West Virginia Dr, Dallas 75237.We are praying that, with God's help, this effort will help bring an end to abortion not only in our city but also throughout America! Churches of all denominations are needed to sponsor a day or block of hours during this solemn prayer vigil. 1 43rd Annual Hike for Life: Hike for Life is a 5K pro-life walk held once a year in various locations around Texas. It raises money for area pregnancy resource centers and awareness of the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. Please check the Hike for Life website for registration, start time, and detailed location for each site. Refreshments will be served at the end of each hike. Dates are as follows:
October 1: McKinney - Erwin Park
October 8: Dallas - Bishop Lynch High School
Garland - Audubon Park
October 15: Corsicana - I.O.O.F. Park
Rowlett - Lakes of Springfield Park
October 22: Dallas - Bachman Lake
If you can’t make it to one of the locations, then find a spot that works for you and have your own Hike for Life. You’ll still get a great T-shirt, and you’ll be helping babies as well. Just let us know your shirt size when you send in your contributions and we will rush you a shirt (while supplies last).

1 19th Annual Walk to Remember: Check-in is at 12:00 noon and ceremony begins at 1 p.m., at Calvary Church, 4401 N. Highway 161, Irving 75038. In 1988, former President Ronald Reagan declared the month of October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. M.E.N.D. (Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death), a non-profit organization supporting and providing hope for families that have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant loss, hosts a Walk to Remember each October. The Walk commemorates those precious lives that have been lost and allows families who suffered this loss to experience fellowship, support and public acknowledgment of the life of their babies in a safe environment. Unlike the name may imply, the Walk is not a fundraiser, nor a "walk-a-thon". Instead, it is a beautiful ceremony to remember our babies who have died. 1 4th Annual Banquet benefitting The Bella House at 7:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel North Dallas, 701 E. Campbell Rd., Richardson, TX. Keynote speaker is Mark Davis, an American radio host, newspaper columnist and political commentator. The evening promises to be filled with inspiration and information for those interested in getting involved to make a real difference in a young mother’s life. 2 Respect Life Sunday
2 National Life Chain: 2:00 - 3:30 p.m., at more than 39 locations around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. For the past 28 years, Life Chain has been a peaceful, prayerful public witness of the Christian community standing together for life with signs conveying this message provided at each site. Last year pro-life individuals in 1,950 locations in 1,600 cities and towns across the United States and Canada gathered to show the solidarity of the Christian community for life and adoption versus abortion. Every year the national office hears about babies whose lives have been saved after women see the people holding signs and praying. 7 All-Night Adoration Vigil of the Two Hearts in prayer for the advancement of the culture of life at Mater Dei Parish, 2030 E. All are invited to join in helping to make reparation for sins against the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary through Eucharistic Adoration every First Friday at Mater Dei Parish.
