Outcome Dialog for Fall Convocation, 2013

Preparing for PrOF (Program Overview and Forecast)

It is time once again to review and update your PrOF. While this review covers all aspect of your program, there are some tasks that directly relate to program and course outcomes assessment. One of the most significant changes will be that each department will be in charge of scheduling their program and course/activity outcomes assessment. This schedule will be recorded in PrOF. LODS has recommended that programs that do not need to discuss an assessment that was conducted in the spring of 2013 use the convocation assessment dialog time to start on this work. The following steps might help you get started with this task.

  1. Review your current Program Outcomes. These can be found in section 1b of PrOF. (Directions for accessing your PrOF are provided below.) Consider the following questions.
  2. Do you need to redefine your outcomes to better align with your program goals and functions (including GE)?
  3. Do you need to modify your outcomes so that assessment is easier or more effective?
  4. Do you want to modify your outcomes to better align with your course outcomes?
  5. Review your program outcome assessment history to identify program goals that have not yet been assessed. (Directions for assessing your previous reports are provided on the back of this page.)
  6. Develop your program outcome assessment schedule. The goal is to ensure that each Program SLO is assessed at least once every 6 years. How these are scheduled is up to your department. This schedule will eventually be entered into Section 1C of your PrOF.
  7. Develop your course assessment schedule. The goal is to ensure that all outcomes of each Course/Activity are assessed at least once every 6 years. How these are scheduled is up to your department. Consider the following questions.
  8. Can you coordinate your course assessments to correspond to related program outcome assessments?
  9. Can your course assessments be grouped to make assessment easier/more valuable?

This schedule will eventually be entered into Section 1D of your PrOF.
