Academic/Behavioral Contract for Field Trips

In order for Sixth Grade Field Trip(s) to be safe and educational experiences, each sixth grade student will be expected to demonstrate that he/she can display the proper conduct and academic standards needed to attend. The following academic, behavioral and procedural guidelines will be followed by the Sixth Grade Team in determining the eligibility of each student to attend each trip.

Academic

Students will demonstrate responsibility and effort in work habits and will maintain passing grades in every academic subject. Students will be eligible to attend the field trip if the following occur:

1)  “A”, “B”, or “C” in all academic subjects

2)  “D” in an academic subject with an “E” or “G” in work habits

3)  Complete class work and homework are turned in on a timely basis.

Behavioral

Students will maintain a high standard for behavior on campus. Students will be eligible to attend the field tip if all of the following occur:

1)  Passing grade (“E”, “G”, or “S”) in citizenship

2)  Behavior is polite and respectful toward adults and other students on campus

3)  Behavior is safe for others and self

** A suspension or three (3) ‘orange cards’ in a trimester may result in ineligibility of a student to attend a field trip.

Procedure

1)  The teacher will communicate with the parent and principal regarding academic or behavioral concerns.

2)  The Sixth Grade Team will meet to determine eligibility of the student to attend the field trip.

3)  Parents will be informed in writing of the Sixth Grade Team’s decision if a child is determine to be ineligible to attend a field trip.

4)  If a child’s conduct on a field trip is determined to be unacceptable or unsafe by Foulks Ranch or field trip staff, the child’s parents will be contacted to pick up the child immediately.

It will be his/her responsibility to be sure all materials are kept in good condition and turned in before going off-track, when the year is finished, or when withdrawing from school. Items with an asterisk (*) will be kept by the student all year in their personal binder, but they are responsible for replacing it, should it be lost.

You will be asked to pay for lost or damaged items.

Student Contract

The sixth grade teachers are looking forward to welcoming you into our classes. In order for you to be a successful learner in sixth grade, you must arrive at school prepared and in control of y our behavior, daily. Please read the contract with your parents, sign it, and return it as soon as possible.

Always come to school prepared and ready with your materials.

Please be aware of what you need to have to be prepared (see your teacher’s supply list) and speak to your teacher should any problems arise

Please be in your seat and ready to begin when the bell rings

Neat, correct, and complete homework should be prepared daily. If homework is incomplete, you may be required to complete it during recess, Fun Friday, or any other optional activity time. Late homework may receive reduced credit or no credit at all. Regardless, late or incomplete homework must be completed to insure proper preparations for assessments. Students with excused absences will have an appropriate about of time to complete the work (please see the Foulks Ranch Parent Handbook).

We expect all students to respect all people and property at all times.

Please keep your desk, backpack, books, and binder neat and organized at all times.
