Job Purpose:

-Work with the Commercial department to promote and sell the Union offers to external companies. Both local businesses and national brands.

-Manage and maintain up-to-date records on the SU’s Customer management system andDiscountswebsite.

-Represent the Students’ Union as a Business development asset from engaging and developing new relationships to attending events and projects on behalf of the commercial team.

-Support the Business Development Manager in the development of relationships with local businesses

Duties and key responsibilities

Business Development

  • Work with the commercial department to develop key relationships and projects with businesses around the campuses.
  • Primarily Support commercial team on projects, events and campaigns. (Mobile SU days, Varsity Sexual Health And Guidance week)
  • Monitor and respond to enquiries on primary accounts in a timely manner, passing on any information to the enquirer.
  • Work with Business development Manager to ensure content (offers and projects) on Union website are up to date. And updating and notifying existing clients of new offers or opportunities.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend appropriate training, events, conferences and meetings as required.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities compatible with the level and nature of the post, as required by the Business Development Manager.
  • Adhere to the SU Constitution, policies and procedures at all times, including the Equality and Diversity Statement and the Health and Safety and Sustainability Policies.
  • Contribute to the positive image of the SU with students, the University, the local community and other relevant organisations.

EXPERIENCE

  • Effective administration and excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Customer service experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Clear communication skills face to face, on the phone or email, and with new media. Ability to identify and communicate appropriately to a range of audiences.
  • Strong presentation Skills
  • IT skills at a level that supports social media and digital content management.
  • Time management and organisational skills that are reliable.
  • Self-motivated with the confidence to work alone but can also work co-operatively and flexibly as part of a team.
  • Ability to stay focused and efficient in the face on changing priorities.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Awareness of the role of Students’ Unions in a good student experience.
  • Awareness of SUUG activities and services (desirable)
  • Understanding of commercial and business (desirable)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary:£8.50 per hour paid fortnightly plus £1.03 per hour holiday pay to be paid termly

Contract:Minimum 10 hours a week; may go up to 16 hours during busier periods throughout the year.

Location:Mainly Cooper Building, Greenwich; sometimes required at Southwood Site, Avery Hill. Some work can be done remotely.
