Purpose of the Post

The postholder(s) will work withAHRC cultural engagement research fellowcontributing to the development, delivery, dissemination and evaluationthe research project: Translation Zone. This includes (depending upon your specialism) the co-development of resources, performing, evaluating, interacting with staff, students and members of the public, documenting and disseminating the research project and its outcomes amongst peers and specific audience. It will require an awareness of and liaison with parts of the University and other institutions in which the student academic partner may not be familiar –you will be assisted and supported in such instances by the research fellow.

2.Main Duties and Responsibilities

2.1 To work alongside Dr Heather Connelly in the development and delivery of an AHRC funded cultural engagement research project.

2.2 To contribute to and input into the research process, support its delivery and evaluation.

2.3 To support the delivery of and occasionally lead on certain aspects of the project and its research aims and objectives.

2.5 To liaise and negotiate with the researcher, research team and others (as directed) to ensure the project outcomes are delivered on time.

2.6 To assist in the dissemination of the project outcomes internally and externally.

2.7 To engage in the research aspect of the project, maintain records and reflect upon your engagement in the research demonstrate impact of your role, personal experience in addition to gathering information from others.

2.6 To undertake any other duties, commensurate with the nature and grading of the post, that may be required.

This post holder is responsible to Dr Heather Connelly, AHRC cultural engagement fellow ADM.

6 Other Requirements (including any special items)

The actual responsibilities duties undertaken by the post holder will be determined by the specific role/specialism that you will undertake. Defined in the context of the research project, location and working pattern. This will be determined by Dr Heather Connelly, constraints of the funding (Feb – April) in addition to the external partners (Library of Birmingham and Brasshouse Language Centre) working patterns.

Some flexibility with regards to hours worked will be required to meet the needs of the project, this will be negotiated with students with advance planning and notice, and the post holder will receive time off in lieu as agreed with their line manager. There may be the occasional evening or weekend session but this will be kept to a minimum.

Dr Heather Connelly reserves the right to vary the duties and responsibilities of staff under conditions prescribed in national agreements.

The above duties may be altered to suit the future needs of the project. Staff are liable to work at the University's city centre campus and the Library of Birmingham.
