Therapeuo may be viewed as a sub-component part of sozo. It involves a host of therapies which can be effective in healing the body and therefore I believe I would put “Gifts of Healings(1 Cor. 12:28) in this category.

  • Defined from Kittle (Theological Dictionary of the New Testament)– “to heal, serve, to care for the sick, to treat,to cure.”
  • A Working Definition of Therapeua - Therapeuo is the wisdom of God which releases cures and provides healing. Therapeua offers a number of approaches for curing a sickness, which include miraculous healing and casting out demons, but is not limited to just these two approaches.

Initial Brief Summary (Add what you discover):

Many instantaneous physical healings and deliverances. Dealt with every kind of sickness and disease, and gave this healing authority to His disciples. Deliverance from demons resulted in physical healing. Demons were cast out with a command. Preaching of the Gospel was accompanied with healing and deliverance, which was the Kingdom being manifest in their midst. Religious legalists have a problem with healing. Touch and anointing with oil were used in the healing process. The disciples were given power and authority to cast out demons and heal. Apparently there are levels of healing ability, for when the disciples could not heal one individual, Jesus approached and did heal, through the casting out of a demon. Level of faith affects the release of healing power.
