Staff a table in the DHHR waiting room every Tuesday from 8:30 – 9:30am to disseminate info about Opportunities beginning 3/1/16 for a four months trial. Calendars of volunteers from SSWG and Community scheduled March 1 through July 31, 2016. / Program will be evaluated by SSWG at May meeting to determine its effectiveness and whether it should be continued.
Host a volunteer information event to provide opportunities for community people to learn of the volunteer opportunities in the EP, especially with regard to the areas of interest to the Self Sufficiency and other work groups. Collaborate with Housing Work Group to provide Successful Renters Programs in all 3 counties with at least two, 3-session program in each county each year. 12/31/16, 17, 18 / CPDC / JCCM and MC Starting Points as hosts, SRP partners, UW for help with printing and possible funding assistance; community service organizations for possible funding assistance / Four Successful Renters Programs will be offered in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan Counties in 2016 with a goal of 100 participants in total.
Provide the Money Matters program in all 3 counties at least 4 times in each year. 2016, 2017, 2018. 12/31/16, 17, 18 / CDPC / Staffing via Telamon, CCWVA and volunteers. Manuals from WV Alliance for Sustainable Families. / Money Matters will be held 4 times in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan Counties in 2016.
Advocate for and assist with implementation of Get A Life into tri- county high schools every year beginning in second quarter of 2016. / CPDC / Materials and Support from WV State Treasurers Office, Collaboration with BC Schools, Staff and volunteer support from Telamon and other organizations/businesses. / There will be one Get a Life program in BC Schools in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Clients who receive TANF or ABAWD will have the option of taking classes sponsored by the SSWG.
Contact SPOKES director to discuss possibility of having them validate the classes by 1/31/2016. (DONE) / CPDC / Approval from DHHR and RESA 8. Collaboration between Work Groups, RESA 8 and DHHR. / Credit for classes sponsored by Work Groups will be approved and clients will attend classes for credit toward their TANF/SNAP requirements.
Advocate for policy changes and funding that positively impacts and furthers human services development / The Advocacy Subcommittee will work on long term projects and short term responses to best meet the needs of the residents of the EP.Immediately and ongoing. / Advocacy / Collaboration between agency representatives as needed.
The Advocacy Subcommittee will create an Energy Education TTT class to equip workers to help families both understand their bills and save money on electricity costs. 12/31/16 / Advocacy, E & A and CDPC / Info from First Energy, volunteers who are willing to take training and work with clients; locations for training / The Energy Education TTT Will be held in the first half of 2016 and classes will be provided beginning July 1, 2016.
Hold a community forum in Morgan County to educate community about building code enforcement and tenant’s rights in Morgan County.12/31/2016 / Advocacy / Morgan County location for forum, organizers and presenters; informational materials, Legal Aid staff. / A community forum about building codes and tenants’ rights will be held in Morgan County in 2016.
