STEERING GROUP

Call for Interest

At the September 2017 Stretton Parish Council meeting the PC agreed to the production of a NDP for our village community. Subsequently the PC applied to Warrington Borough Council to approve this application. Following a 6 week consultancy period this approval has been granted.

The production of the NDP is undertaken by a dedicated Steering Group of Stretton residents, together with a planning consultant. The steering group will be ultimately responsible to the PC in their role as the ‘Qualifying Body’.

The intention of this NDP is to guide and influence the way in which our community grows, so all residents and businesses of Stretton will be given the opportunity to have their say and express their concerns and wishes for the future of Stretton. Other South Warrington local parishes are also starting this process for themselves.

The NDP will take approximately 2 years to produce due to the formality, rigorous procedures and consultations with all villagers which needs to be undertaken. The document will eventually dovetail into the Warrington Borough Council Local Plan, which is currently under revision and includes details of the proposal of a Preferred Development Option (PDO) for the development of a Garden City Suburb, which would substantially affect Stretton.

The initial Steering Group has already been formed, currently with four enthusiastic residents but we want to hear from anyone who lives or works in Stretton who'd like to take part, whether on an informal basis or as part the core Steering Group.

This is YOUR chance to influence the future of our village.

We are therefore looking for volunteers.

Any resident who is enthusiastic and willing to contribute their time and energy to join the group will be welcome. Are there any special skills you have that might be useful? For example in IT, planning, web design, local history, project management, local business. Whatever your background we'd love to hear from you - the only requirement is a love for our village, a desire to help shape its future and a willingness to do something about it.
