Job Title:Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Section:Bromley Working for Wellbeing
Location:Bromley
Hours of Work:37.5 hours per week
Responsible to:Psychological Therapies Manager
Clinically Accountable to:Psychological Therapies Manager
Role Summary:
To contribute to the development of the low intensity provision within the Bromley IAPT service. The post represents an opportunity for an experienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP), who is committed to the IAPT model, to develop their career.
In addition to carrying a clinical caseload, the post-holder will support and supervise newly qualified and trainee PWPs. This is an opportunity for PWPs who are excited by the low intensity role to contribute towards the development of both the service and existing staff.
The post-holder will work with people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to equal opportunities. They will be called upon to work in different community settings and must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- CLINICAL
1.1Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages.
1.2Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
1.3Make decisions regarding the suitability of new referrals, adhering to Bromley Working for Wellbeing referral protocols. Work with telephone triage team when required and present all decisions for supervision before placing on the relevant waiting list.
1.4Help manage waiting lists and capacity within the Bromley & Lewisham Mind service through the co-ordination of groups and other interventions.
1.5Undertake client-centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery.
1.6To identify, monitor and manage risk to self or others in every clinical contact with a client.
1.7Provide a range of treatment options in line with evidence-based high volume low-intensity psychological interventions. This includes guided self-help, computerised CBT, group interventions and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, on the telephone or via other media.
1.8Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of clinical appointments offered each week as agreed with the Psychological Therapies Manager.
1.9 Complete all data entry as required within the service.
1.10Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
1.11Work closely with other members of the Bromley Working for Wellbeing team to ensure appropriate step-up procedures are adhered to with minimum disruption to clients.
1.12Asses and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process, and where appropriate refer for specialist employment support.
1.13Manage the clinical caseload of qualified and trainee PWPs through case management supervision.
2PROFESSIONAL
2.1Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapy Code of Ethics and Conduct.
2.2Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity.
2.3Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
2.4Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the treatment of common mental illness.
2.5Keep up to date records in relation to Continuing Professional Development.
2.6Participate in clinical and case management supervision on a regular basis according to IAPT requirements.
2.7Attend relevant conferences/ workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
2.8Contribute to the development of evidence-based best practice within the service, and where appropriate to service development in response to identified needs.
3MANAGEMENT
3.1Provide line management supervision to qualified and trainee PWPs.
3.2Ensure that all records are in line with best clinical practice.
3.3Assist with the preparation of monitoring reports
3.4Ensure that all requirements for BABCP PWP Accreditation are met.
3.5Ensure that all direct reports participate in appraisal process and that their competency is addressed in line with PWP accreditation, with action taken to ensure that this accreditation is maintained.
4TRAINING AND SUPERVISION
4.1Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the IAPT approved supervision training.
4.2Identify training needs across the low intensity team and develop routes for CPD in co-ordination with the Psychological Therapies Manager.
4.3Attend locally and nationally organised training appropriate to the work role.
GENERAL
- Keep accurate and appropriate records, providing information for monitoring and evaluation as required
- Participate in and actively contribute to individual supervision, training and team meetings as required

- Work flexibly, being prepared to perform other duties commensurate with the role

- Promote the work of Bromley & Lewisham Mind and positive understanding, awareness and attitudes towards mental health

- Work alongside and ensure active service user and carer participation in all aspects of work, including design, implementation and monitoring of activities
