STRATHMORE & DISTRICT RIDING CLUB –AUGUST CAMP 2016

The April camp was a huge success so here’s your chance to enjoy camp. There is bothy with electric and wood burner, showers, a mix of nice permanent and new indoor temporary stables, good riding facilities, a well maintained inspected xc course with a revamped water complex. The format will be campers arriving on Friday and getting a flatwork lesson in the afternoon, two lessons on the Saturday and then either one (two hour) cross country session or two 1 hour lessons on Sunday. The XC course definitely caters for all levels so it’s a good opportunity for everyone to have a go if they want to.

Catering Requirements: George (Alba Catering) has agreed to come and feed us as usual and the following meals are included in the cost: Friday Evening meal, Breakfast Saturday and Saturday BBQ and Breakfast Sunday. There will also be tea/coffee facilities provided in the bothy throughout. Homebaking welcome to keep everyone going.

Price – £180 the smaller venue and the improved facilities does mean that the club has had to increase the cost. We are not making any profit from this camp in fact the club at this price will be subsidising each place. We hope that the members still feel that it is value for money.

Stabling
All stabling will be indoors, either in the permanent stables or within the new temporary stabling which will be erected within a new barn on hard standing, has lighting and water. Stabling is provided with straw. If you require alternative bedding, you will have to supply your own. Remember to bring your own forage and hard feed. Hay is available to purchase from Lindores directly if that is of interest to anyone.
Accommodation:
There is sufficient space at Lindores for the usual camping arrangements which should be more comfortable given the availability of showers and the bothy. But for those who either don’t have the facilities to camp or want a bit of luxury then there is Lindores Lodge. This is a luxury lodge which sleeps 6+2 which has been provisionally booked for club members to use. Members can stay in the Lodge for 3 nights at a rate of £100/per person (www.facebook.com/lindoreslodge). There are 3 twin bedrooms and 1 sofa bed. The lodge is available for campers to book but needs to be done directly with Lindores on a first come first served basis. Please DO NOT try and book the lodge until you have been told that you have a place at camp, everyone will be informed at the same time. Lindores will be told when they can start taking bookings.

IF THE CAMP IS OVERSUBSCRIBED THEN THERE WILL BE A BALLOT. MEMBERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY ON THE 10TH JUNE 2016 IF THEY HAVE A PLACE. MEMBERS WHO WERE AT THE APRIL CAMP WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE FIRST BALLOT OF THE AUGUST CAMP BUT WILL BE OFFERED A PLACE IF THERE ARE SPACES.
