Staff
Congratulations to Mr Howie who is presently on paternity leave at the moment due to the birth of his son. Mr Howie will return on Wednesday 19 September – hopefully not having had too many sleepless nights.
Mary’s Meals
Many thanks to all the families who have donated backpacks for the charity ‘Mary’s Meals’. There is still time to bring any bags or items to school.
We wish to thank COSTCO for the kind donation of over 100 backpacks. If you have any items, but no bag, then please just send them to school and we will put them in the backpacks supplied by COSTCO. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Penicuik community.
Please check out for more information regarding
this charity.
Brian the Bear
P7 are continuing to raise funds for their school camp to Benmore in November. As from week commencing the 18 September they will be selling tickets to win the fantastic ‘Brian the Bear.’ Raffle tickets will cost £1 for a strip of 5 or 30p a ticket. The lucky winner will be announced at assembly when all the tickets are sold. Remember you have to be in it to win it!
Christmas Cards
A separate letter will be issued with regard to a fundraising venture that involves pupils designing their own cards. Please look out for this letter in your child’s bag.
Dogs
Can we remind parents and carers that dogs are not allowed in the school playground even if they are kept on a lead. So many children descending from classrooms at the same time can upset or excite dogs and compromise the safety of the children.
Discos
You will see from the attached calendar that we have plans for a number of discos throughout the year. Further to discussions with staff, pupils and the Parent Partnership it has been agreed that the evening discos will only be for school pupils and not the nursery children. We do not wish our nursery children to miss out therefore we have plans to have suitable parties for them during nursery time including a party after their ‘Graduation Ceremony’.
The reasons for not including the nursery at the evening discos centered round the safety of all children. The hall was full and the little ones were easily knocked over. Families were also bringing babies in buggies which caused a safety issue in the hall and it was too late for such young children to be up at night.
Late Time Keeping
Please ensure your child is at school on time to commence at 8.50am. We are very security conscious and all perimeter gates are closed immediately after the bell thus allowing entry only by the school office. Late time keeping can cause an upset to pupils as the start of the day is when a lot of instructions are given for the day ahead.
Please remember that school is closed on Friday 14 September and Monday 17 September.
