The Roy H. Beaton Endowment fund was established in 2008 as an endowment fund to provide financial assistance for StoughtonHigh School students for post-secondary education. ~The scholarship(s) will be awarded to students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher with good moral character and participation in extra-curricular activities. ~The awards shall be made to students who demonstrate financial need in accordance with federal guidelines. ~

To a graduating senior who has attended Stoughton High School a minimum of two years, who has shown excellence in the disciplines of both English and mathematics, and who will attend a four year institution of higher learning. The recipient will be selected jointly by the directors of the English and mathematics departments, based on academic achievement and merit.

Clube Luis De Camoes Scholarship – variousTania Vieira

To a graduating senior who is the son/daughter of a club member of at least two years, with a GPA of 3.00 or better, ranked in the top 50% of the class and active in school/community activities. The student must attend a two or four year institution after graduation. A three-paragraph essay is required, answering one of three questions on the scholarship application.

To a graduating senior of scholastic promise who plans to continue his/her education beyond high school and who has been accepted by an accredited institution of higher learning. The recipient of this scholarship must have been a member of the Stoughton High School Marching Band or Color Guard.

The Julie M. Conroy Memorial Scholarship - $200Matthew Schwartz

To a graduating senior who has been serviced under Chapter 766 for a minimum of one year, and who will further his/her education beyond graduation. In the event that there is no student who meets this qualification, the scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to enter the field of special education. If none of the above criteria can be met, then it will be presented to a student who plans to enter the field of general education.

All criteria being equal, the lowest ranking class member is to receive this scholarship. Verification of tuition payment required. This may be used in either semester or the academic year following graduation. If not used within this time frame, the scholarship will be forfeited.

To an outstanding graduating senior with good moral character and integrity who exhibits an interest in pursuing a career in the medical sciences. If there is no such student, then any deserving student.

To graduating seniors who have played varsity ice hockey at Stoughton High School and wishes to continue their education either at a college, trade school, military service or other higher educational institution. For monies to be distributed after scholarship selection, student must provide the school with either a tuition bill or receipts totaling scholarship amount for education-related expenses: ie: laptop computer, books or other educational materials.

Criteria for scholarship:

  • Must have played ice hockey for StoughtonHigh School for at least two years.
  • Must graduate having completed their senior year playing ice hockey for StoughtonHigh School.
  • Must have assisted and promoted the Friends of Stoughton Hockey organization.

Irene Gay Memorial Scholarship - $300 (Donated by Patients at New England Sinai)

The applicant should be accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning with the intent of pursuing a career in medicine, therapy, or a related health field. He/she should be active in school and community activities and have the recommendation of a teacher, counselor, health care professional, or clergyman.

To a graduating senior of scholastic promise who attended the GibbonsSchool for at least three years. The recipient must have been accepted at an institution of higher learning and be encouraged to continue education by virtue of the financial assistance rendered by this award.

Jen Gitto Scholarship - $300Lucy Carvalho

To a graduating senior who has demonstrated significant community service in helping children or the elderly, who has been a positive influence on the graduating class, and who has been accepted into a four year accredited college program. Preference will be given to a person who will continue to provide care and service to the young or elderly in their career choice.

Nancy Murray Giroux Arts Scholarship - $1,000William McNamara

To a graduating senior who plans to pursue an education in fine arts. Strong preference will be given to students who plan to specialize in or incorporate extensive use of photography. The winner will be determined by strength of portfolio, passion for photography, and financial need.

Goddard Health Foundation (2) - $1,500Simone Kushnirsky

To graduating seniors who plan to continue their education in the health care field. It is available to students who are enrolled in a public high school and are residents of one of the following towns or city: Stoughton, Easton, West Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Bridgewater, and Brockton. Each student must be enrolled or have been accepted into a two-year, four-year degree or certificate program. Each winner must be a person of good character, demonstrate a need, and also have a well-balanced interest in studies and extracurricular activities.

Paul M. Goulston Memorial Scholarship - $500Nicholas O’Neill

To a graduating senior who has attended StoughtonHigh School for at least two years and who has indicated an interest in the field of medicine, nursing, or pharmacology. The student should have been active in school or community activities and not the recipient of another scholarship of equal or greater value.

To a graduating senior who has been a member of the football and/or cheerleading program and has played or cheered for four years on the Stoughton teams. Student must have strong academic credentials with a grade point average of B (85) or better. These seniors must also have shown a great respect for the schools’ code of discipline and conduct. These seniors should be strong role models for future Black Knight players and cheerleaders. Senior must write an essay on what playing football and cheering for the team has done to prepare them for college life.

The recipient should be ranked among the top 75 students in his/her class and should have demonstrated good citizenship and academic excellence. He/she should have participated in extracurricular activities.

This scholarship is for students who might not otherwise receive a scholarship and plan to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

To a graduating senior who has overcome adversity, either in learning or in personal life. The student should demonstrate perseverance and resiliency. Applicants should be planning tp pursue higher education although they need not attend a four year college. Students should submit a 1-2 typed page essay explaining the challenges they have met. Two faculty members or staff from SHS should sign the essay in support of the student’s application.

To a graduating senior who exemplifies courage, compassion, humor, strength, unselfishness and a willingness to help others. He/she must participate in extracurricular activities, have attended StoughtonHigh School for 4 years, and must be attending a 4 year college or university in the fall.

Dr. Robert G. O'Donnell Memorial Scholarship - $500Dylan Holbrook

To a graduating senior who demonstrates loyalty, concern for others, good moral character and integrity. The recipient must be accepted to a four year college and be a member of a single parent family. A 150-word essay entitled "How I Demonstrate Loyalty" is required.

To a graduating senior who has participated in the Chapter I or other special needs program in the Stoughton schools. The recipient must have been accepted by an accredited institution of higher learning. Preference will be given to a student who attended the WestElementary School.

To a graduating senior who has been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning, who ranks in the top 15% of the class, who shows leadership qualities, good moral character, and strong values, and who has displayed involvement in school and community activities. Preference will be given to applicants of Polish heritage.
