Location:Central London/ Home working

Role duration:Essential: 3 months

Salary:Voluntary basis

Hours:3 days per week (from home with occasional office meetings)

Reports to:Global Campaign Coordinator

Starting: Mid-late June

About the role:

An exciting opportunity towork on interesting research projects for STOP THE TRAFFIK.

STOP THE TRAFFIK are looking for an experienced and motivated individual who is able to commit to a minimum of three months to play a critical role supporting and assisting with two research projects.

STOP THE TRAFFIK are an international campaigning organisation who have been working since 2006 to end human trafficking in the cocoa supply chain through consumer awareness and action campaigns. Almost 10 years on, STOP THE TRAFFIK are going to review and compare the progress of the 5 largest international chocolate companies. STOP THE TRAFFIK are also writing a report on human trafficking within the tea industry. This report will be using the LexisNexis human trafficking index which analyses global media on specific issues.

Key responsibilities:

As an essential member of a small team you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking and verifying key primary and secondary research based on agreed criteria
  • Making contact with the relevant organisations and gathering information as needed
  • Liaising and collaborating with the internal project team
  • Report writing including drawing together comparisons and case studies

The candidate – person specification:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and digest complex information quickly and effectively
  • Strong communication skills, specifically written ability to convey complex information in an engaging and interesting manner
  • Creative thinker who is interested in the power of consumer campaigning to raise awareness of human trafficking and the role of international organisations to tackle trafficking within their own supply chains
  • Team player with excellent networking skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work under direction and on own initiative, to prioritise work effectively and to work under pressure to meet deadlines

Experience required:

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification
  • Work experience in the private sector and charity sector would be an advantage
  • Experience in the research, writing and publication of reports would be an advantage
  • Excellent and relevant administrative and organisational skills
  • Fluency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
