Job Title: Program Coordinator/ Medical Assistant

Summary of Job Responsibilities for ______:

To Include But Not Limited To:

·  The role of this position is to participate in a variety of activities.

·  Infusion Program:

o  Orients possible new starts, requests benefits, eligibility and authorizations for all new starts.

o  Advises patients of benefits.

o  Schedules appointments for new starts.

o  Rooms patients, takes and charts vital signs and drug history when necessary.

o  Counsels patients on treatments and assists nurse when needed.

o  Assists RN as needed.

·  Handles program correspondence as necessary.

·  Orients self injectable patients.

·  Checks benefits and gets authorizations for self injectables.

·  Refills for self injectables.

·  Transfers calls or takes and delivers accurate messages, according to office policies, when appropriate personnel are unavailable.

·  Orients patients on biological benefits when requested by physician.

·  Maintains confidentiality of records.

·  Performs related duties as required.

·  Computer “go to” person when necessary.

·  Maintains and starts all Patient Assistance Programs/Foundations and Copay Cards.

·  Receives orientation from Drug Reps.

·  Does prescription refills when necessary.

·  Translates when necessary.

Qualifications:

·  High school graduate or equivalent.

·  Registered Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist.

·  XRT and CPR Certified

·  Good hygiene.

·  Friendly demeanor.

·  Computer knowledge/typing.

·  Good verbal and written communication. Good spelling.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·  Able to maintain confidentiality.

·  All medical skills and knowledge required of a Medical Assistant.

·  Able to be friendly, helpful and courteous to patients and on the phone.

·  Ability to identify specific parts of the medical record and identify where they should be located in the record.

·  Ability to understand and perform duties of position

·  Able to complete a complex variety of tasks in an organized manner.

·  Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures relating to position.

·  Ability to look ahead and plan work schedule accordingly.

·  Able to treat patients and staff with consideration and respect.
