Stevenage and District Riding Club presents:

Summer Open Shows

To be held at Chesfield Equestrian Centre on 22nd May and 17th July 2011.

To start at 9.00am

Please note that the showing classes are open to both Registered and Unregistered horses and ponies.

Ring One: In hand classes 9.00am

1.  Young stock - One, two and three years of age.

2.  Best condition.

3.  Small Mountain and Moorland - Welsh section A and B, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Shetland.

4.  Large Mountain and Moorland - Welsh section C and D, Connemara, Fell, Dales and Highland.

5.  Veteran Horse / Pony- Handler any age. Horse / Pony aged 18 and over.

6.  Coloured horse or pony (Not before 12.00 noon) - This class is open to piebald, skewbald appaloosa, dun, palomino, roan or spotted.

7.  Foreign breeds e.g Arab, Andalusian, Appaloosa, Norwegian Fjord. Registered with appropriate breed society.

Ring Two: Ridden classes 9.00am

8.  Best Turned Out - Horse four years and over. Any height.

9.  Lead Rein - Riders to be under 9 years and ponies to be 12hh and under.

10. First Ridden Pony to be under 13hh and rider 11 years and under.

11. Small Mountain and Moorland - Welsh Section A and B, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Shetland.

12. Large Mountain and Moorland - Welsh section C and D, Connemara, Fell, Dales and Highland.

13. Foreign Breeds (Not before 1.00pm) - May be shown in English or traditional style according to breed.

14. Small Hunter -15hh and under.

15. Large Hunter 15hh and over

16. Riding horse. Rider any age and horse to be 15hh and over.

17. Riding club horse / Pony. Will be asked to jump a small jump maximum height 2’6’ft. to be judged on the suitability of the pony / horse for all club activities.

Ring Three: Working Hunter classes 9.00

17. Working Hunter over 15hh - Jumps maximum height 2’9ft.

18. Working Hunter 14 - 15hh - Jumps maximum height 2’6ft

19. Working Hunter 13 - 14hh - Jumps maximum height 2’3ft

Show jumping ring: 9.00am prompt

19. Beginners:

Rider/ Pony/ Horse combinations not have been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any show jumping class.

Maximum height of fences will be 1’9ft. All clear rounds will receive a clear round rosette and be eligible to enter the jump off. ENTRIES FOR THIS CLASS WILL CLOSE AT 10.00am. Please be prompt if you wish to take part.

20. Novice:

Rider / Pony / Horse combination not to have been placed 1st in any show jumping class. Maximum height of fences will be 2’3ft.

21. Fun Class:

On the 22nd May 2011 the fun class will be pairs. The winning pair will be decided on the fastest clear round. The maximum height will be 2’6ft. On the 24th July 2011 the fun class will be pick your own line. Competitors pick their own line between the fences. All fences in the arena must be jumped from the correct side. The combination to ride the quickest clear round around all the jumps wins. Maximum height 2’6ft.

22. Intermediate:

This class is open to all competitors. Maximum height 2’9ft.

23. Small Open:

This class will only run if there are over 10 entries. It is open to all competitors and the maximum height of the jumps will be 3ft.

Please note that the clear round will run all day. £4.00 per round on the day.

Fun classes - To be held in ring three on completion of the working hunter classes.

24. Personality horse / pony - This classes will be split into the following sections:

a) Longest tail

b)The most beautiful mane

c) Thelwell lookalike

d) Prettiest mare

e) Handsomest gelding

f)Horse or pony the judge would most like to take home.

25. Fancy Dress - This class will be mounted and the child must have been involved in the preparation of their mounts costume! Hard hats and correct footwear must be worn.

Postal entries close on Thursday prior to each show. Entries will taken on day if classes not full but late entry fee of £2.00 will be charged. There will be a maximum of 20 competitors in each showing class.

Stevenage and District RC members will pay £6.00 per class.

Non-members £8.00 per class.

Clear rounds to be charged at £4.00 on the day.

Terms and conditions:

1.  Verbal abuse or violence towards officials or committee members will not be tolerated and any person engaging in such behaviour will be disqualified and asked to leave the premises immediately.

2.  We are not able to accommodate colts or stallions at this show.

3.  Proof of age and / or height of mount may be required in appropriate classes. Please be demonstrate good sportsmanship. Age as on the day of the show.

4.  Hard hats to the current British Riding Club standard to be worn at all times when mounted.

5.  Entry fees will only be refunded on production of a vets certificate or doctors certificate.

6.  Competitors arriving late will only be admitted to the class at the judges discretion and entry fees will not be refunded if admission refused.

7.  Objections will need to be made in writing and submitted to the show secretary within thirty minutes of the class closing. The objector will pay a deposit of £20.00 when the objection is lodged. This is non-refundable if this objection is found to have no basis.

8.  The decision of the judge and or committee is final.

9.  The committee or any official acting on behalf of the committee shall not be held responsible for injury to the person. This includes competitors, spectators or any other person or for any damage to property belonging to competitors, spectators or any other person.

10.  All dogs to be kept under control and on a lead.
