CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR COMPETITIVE MASTERS AND PhD SCHOLARSHIPS

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has extended support to Makerere University in form of scholarships to support a total of 20 Masters and 10 PhD students in the period 2015 – 2018 under the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies, Eastern Africa Programme.

The DRGT invites applications from recent graduates (not more than six years) to compete for the 20 Masters and 10 PhD scholarships under the above program. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • They must show proof of admission to Makerere University or provide an official letter assuring admission. For Masters applicants, admission will be in the following programs:
  • Master of Science in Technology Innovation and Industrial Development (MSc TIID) (College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology)
  • Master of Science in Information Systems (MSc IS, College of Computing and Information Sciences)
  • Master of Laws (LLM - School of Law)
  • Master of Science in Zoology (MSc Zoo, College of Natural Sciences)
  • Master of Science in Veterinary Preventive Medicine (MVPM, College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity)
  • Master of Science in Livestock Development and Planning (MLD, College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity)
  • They should be able to complete their studies within a period of two years (for Masters degree) and three years (for PhD degree)
  • Continued support depends on acceptable annual progress reports
  • The last university degree must have been completed less than six years ago at the time of application
  • Citizenship of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree qualification with at least above average results

For PhD scholarships: Staff member of a public or private university (or candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment)
