“Sterile Processing Delivers”

(SPD)

SPD plays a critical role in the provision of safe patient care. Infection Prevention is our main responsibility.

It is the area where medical/surgical supplies and equipment, both sterile and non-sterile, are cleaned, disinfected, processed, sterilized and used for patient care.

SPD technicians must have the skills, knowledge, understanding and the passion for this profession. They must be lifelong learners.

“One of the things that may get in the way of people being lifelong learners is that they’re not in touch with their passion. If you’re passionate about what it is you do, then you’re going to be looking for everything you can to get better at it.”
