Steps to register (and pay) for Summer Music Experience:
Step 1. Register and submit payment to MSCR by MAY 11, (no late
registrations are accepted) by choosing one of the following two options:
On-line: go to and follow “Registration Policies and
Procedures’.
Paper copy: fill out the MSCR Registration Form found in the MSCR
Summer 2011 Program Guide. If you no longer have the copy that was
mailed to your home, print one from the MSCR website or you may
pick one up at MSCR. Mail the registration with payment to
MSCR, 3802 Regent St., Madison, WI, 53705.
Note: If you have already registered through MSCR, please go to Step 2.
Step 2. Complete the Student Information and Course Choices
portions of this brochure.

Students may be asked to consider alternate electives depending on number of applicants for this year’s program.
Course Descriptions
Band: For students who have had at least a semester of experience on a concert band instrument.
Jazz:
- band students currently in grades 6-8
- string bass players currently in grades 6-8
- guitarists and pianists with at least two years of private lessons to handle the advanced repertoire.
Basic Orchestra and Basic Fiddlin’: string players through level 5in strings festival
Advanced Orchestra and Advanced Fiddlin’: string players levels 6 and higher in strings festival
Choir: anyone who wants to sing
Cast: sing a lead or supporting role in the musical
Pit Orchestra: provides the instrumental music for the musical
Crew: set design, props, sound, costumes, etc.
Computers in Music: compose your own music using software

A chance to make music with students sharing your interests and abilities from all over the city.
Won’t your director be impressed when you come back from your summer sounding great!
FAQs
Band, Choir, and Orchestra students, currently in grades 4-8 are welcome to participate. Students signing up for band, jazz, orchestra, and fiddling need to have prior experience on their instrument.
(current enrollment in your school band or orchestra program
or private lessons).
This year’s session will be held from July 11-22, Monday through Friday from 12:30-3:45 at Toki M.S.
The fee to cover MMSD music faculty, supplies, and facilities is only $50 for the whole two weeks! Students on free or reduced lunch are eligible for a total scholarship.
Transportation is the responsibility of the parents. Feel free to contact other parents from your school/area about a carpool.
Instrument rentals and supplies MUST be arranged PRIOR to
the end of the school year with your school director or music store. We have no instruments to provide, except percussion.
Fully refunded cancellations will not be accepted
after June 10th.
